I was wondering if someone can explain to me the thing with Korean city names, the maps I have found all have Daegu, Busan, etc as Taegu, Pusan.... is there somewhere I can find a map of south korea with the former names on it rather than the later?

Thanks.

The official Romanization changed a few years back.
Ever heard of Peking?
Al-Queda, Al-Queada, Al-Qaida?
Same deal.
Inchon, Inch'on, and Incheon are all the same place, it just depends on which system of Romanization the map uses.
MS MapPoint and the CIA's World Factbook still use the old romanization. In fact, I'd be willing to be that most maps of Korea not published by Koreans or the Korean govt. still use the old romanization.

CIA World Factbook

Wikipedia

An interesting article in the 1911 encyclopedia

Lots of maps at UT

I think you are confused as to which are the new names and which are the old names. Taegu and Pusan are the old names. If those are the names that your maps have, then you already have maps with the old names on them.

Don't know how many times this is going to come up, but just because Seoul decides to change the spelling doesn't mean the rest of the world is going to follow suit.

Are we going to call Beijing - Peking now?

I think the change of romanization was a very bad one. If you really want foreigners to pronounce it YOUR way, they can learn your language.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I was a little confused by the whole naming thing.

Anyways could someone point me to a place where I can find a map with the new romanization on it (daegu, busan)?

Thanks again
