So, I just got my registration confirmation from ATEK. I'm excitied to finally check out their forums...bam, it's listed as an "attack site" by hosting.co.kr.

BS

Metropolitician, Korea Beat, Galbi-Jim, now ATEK (the foreign teacher's union/alliance). This is starting to smell awful fishy.

If that's true, this country is becoming more of a police state every day.

Pretty sad to hear that. Hope it isn't true...

Thing is, this has all been happening in the past 4 months. More than likely it's netizens, as the spam blockers and protection sites are all different. That's why some people can still use them, but some can't (especially if surfing from school).

you have no idea.

there are over 260 well-paid individuals whose sole and specific job is to daily monitor the internet activity (writing, mailing, posting, blogging, chatting, etc.) of foreign residents in korea.

but i'm sure they are as efficient as your hogwon supervisor.

What is hosting.co.kr? It sounds like a hosting site. Do they offer screening software?

Maybe 'attack' is a bad translation and the site works something like NetNanny in that it screens websites for bad language etc.

Is it screening you at work or at home?

I'm curious as to how you know this.

Marmots hole and Feet Man Seoul seem to be working, and ATEK says its down for maintenance.

Yeah, it's just a web host. And no, "attack" is not a bad translation; basically someone reported the site as to being infiltrated by hackers. Someone out there is reporting these benevolent sites as being taken over by scammers and getting them shut down on various ISP's.
