In this episode, we discuss a number of issues affecting teachers in South Korea, including: hiring difficulties due to changes in new E-2 visa rules, drug testing and criminal checks, how massive teacher layoffs in Japan have influenced job availability in South Korea |

Great interview skills - I know you had a background in broadcasting, but it's interesting to see you in action. |

Ha... thanks! Actually, I dropped my radio DJ job because I sort of suck at interviewing, and I knew I wouldn't have much of a future past $15,000 a year as a weekend DJ! I could do pre-recorded stuff, but live -- forget it. I just suck rocks.
But thanks for the comments. Luckily, in the podcast world, I can edit a bit before it airs.
Hey, YBS... when can I interview you?? Seriously! |

About what? You're talking to a guy who can't even figure out how to use Skype. |

You wanna interview me? I'd have to prepare some questions for you though! Actually, you wouldn't have to question me much, I'd just say it like it is. |

I'm listening to the podcast now. The interview session is fine. Don't sell yourself short .
I have some background in live radio as well. I did a live weekly sports talk show and was the color commentary for my university's broadcast of football and basketball games. I think you did a good job.
Keep up the good work! |

Thanks, guys......
Hey, buymybook, what would you like to be interviewed about? Your book? I'd like to sit down with several teachers and just record a "rap session" once about stories from their ESL lives. I'm looking for about any Korea-related topics that would capture peoples' interest. They don't have to be ESL, necessarily.
I'm heading down to Busan for a TESOL course with EFL-Law guy and Rod Ellis after next week. I'll be sure to bring my recorder and make a podcast or two from there. |

Thanks.
Hopefully every week or two weeks during busy teaching times. I would like to be able to do at least one per week (provided I can come up with enough quality material). |

Hey Great Stuff! Big compliments.
I did a few podcasts with a veteran podcaster who posted a bit here..... TALKSHOE. Didn't like the technology though.....never got off the ground.
If you want to do something with EFL Classroom 2.0, I'd love to have you do a monthly podcast for thousands of our members. You'd get an instant audience. I'd even embed your page for members....
But it is a NEEDED thing. I would have done it but I'm just too overrun with all sorts of stuff..... Keep on, keeping on....
Cheers,
DD

I'll be back in Korea on Sunday and should have lots of free time next week if you want to meet up. |
