Hi Shimo. I dont know anything about mirc. I get most of my books from torrent sites.
By far the best place for modern novels and some non-fiction is this guy;
http://www.truly-free.org/. Project Gutenburg is good for public domain, like Dickens, Poe etc. Emule is good also, it has lot's of obscure titles.
Good luck, sorry I can't help you on the Mirc thing, I'm not familiar with it.
Truly Free is a good site though. |

Me. I use a I-station V43. It is a Personal Media Player. I use it mainly to watch videos. But it can handle text files and PDF. Of course I lost the PDF functionality. But it did handle PDF ok. Some PDF did cause errors.
The good think about the Istation V43 is it is available in korea beacause it is a Korean product.
The Istation can be set up to be just like a PDA with more space available. Thru it can be a little bulky.
Good Luck! |

Wow, that site is awesome, there's heaps of stuff I've wanted to read for ages. Thanks.
Anyways, I was looking at getting the sony reader for a while, but once I saw that you could jailbreak an Ipod touch and use it as a ebook reader I changed my mind. It's a little small, but you can set the font size. You just end up without that many words on the screen. |

I've read at least 50 books on my Touch. I don't find it at all hard to read on. The fact that you always have it with you is gravy. |

Another option for you: your mp3 player.
I sport a Samsung YP-P2 touch that has a really nice widescreen that goes horizontal for reading text. Black background and white characters--really easy on the eyes.
Another option for Ipod users is to rockbox it. I've heard (although I don't know for sure) that Ipod limits your text files to a certain size if you use windows. Rockbox it (a custom firmware), and you can do whatever you want to it. It's got a nice text reader with a million options, including auto-scroll.
Neither of these rocks a .pdf viewer tho. My old Palm Pilot m135 was a little color deal that I read hundreds if not thousands of e-books on, and it was very comfortable. The new PDAs seem to be much bigger than the old ones, and personally, the old ones are more comfortable to carry around, tho they don't have the functionality of the new ones.
But yeah, lots of mp3 players have big screens, and Rockbox sports a few builds for a variety of mp3 players (if yours won't let you read .txt files). |

I haven't run into that problem. The Touch functions quite well as an e-book reader. |

Did you jailbreak your itouchee Thandarr?
I have an ebook in jpg format on mine, not as good as my PSP though. Would be way better to drag and drop instead of faffing about with itunes. I hate that piece of crap, it's the reason I stopped using my first ipod. |

When I bought it back around November last year, I jailbroke it about a day later. Since the opening of the app store, I found no compelling reason to have my touch remain jailbroken with the number of excellent free apps.
However, even when jailbroken, you still have to use iTunes (if I'm not mistaken, I did.) And the book reader I have only views .txt files. I guess you could use the picture viewer for .jpgs but that might be a pita. I don't know, never tried.
The thing about iTunes, which maybe not everyone realizes is that the use of it enables things like instant on access to your media, unlike other players which may need to load a file structure after uploading anything.
Another feature that I haven't seen on anything else is automatic bookmarking of anything your watching/listening to (which it can do, I believe, because of iTunes.) I can switch between multiple podcasts and videos and each one will be exactly where I left off without me having to bookmark my spot or find my bookmark. That feature alone is priceless in my book since I tend to switch between podcasts a lot. |
