I think we need to create a new name for the English camp.
English Drop In Center: They generally show up when they want. The NET is responsible for providing them with their Edutainment needs. |

The main aim of mine doesn't seem to be about the students at all, but more or less to keep the foreigners from having a decent vacation, so I think it should just be called:
Control Us Native Teachers |

Perfect.
They just want to prove to higher ups that they are getting the maximum amount of work from us. In session, we're regular teachers/civil servants. Out of session, we're contract employees. |

I can back this up with proof from an old timer I met at 3 Alley. He worked for public schools when they called it Koretta. The Korean teachers got jealous and complained to the KTU. Why are all these foreigners getting as much vacation as us.
The Korean government decided to make workshops for Korean teachers during the break. Attendance was so bad they eventially started holding the workshops at the local Kyo Yuk Cheongs. Finally so many Korean teachers began to complain that they made these so called camps. The term is deliberately misleading and ment to bring up cheerful images of roasting hot dogs over an open fire or sleeping in tents. When in reality it's how many word finds can I get them to do in four hours. |

I hope I get to work in an English Village.
I hope it's called "Happy Funny Fun English Land Place World!!".
Or "Toss Land." |

Oooh.
To be fair though, my school seems determined to ruin the Korean teachers's vacations as well. There are always at least five Korean teachers hanging around.
I like Bucktown Plantation, also. |

Those teachers are either duty teachers, serving their mandatory 4 or 5 days of office work or they are being paid extra. I know a lot of male teachers take on vacation classes for a good chunk of money. My province doesn't pay us extra for camps, but the K-teachers, who don't even teach, get OT for making sure we know the computer password and offering us coffee in the morning. Let's not forget that these teachers can and are getting "promotion points" as well. |

Draz, not sure if you know this but Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland in 1820 on Bucktown Plantation.
My list was something of a joke (albeit a poor one) commenting on how many posters here say that their employers are like slave drivers/slave owners telling their employees to do this or to do that. |
