So, I'm heading to Yongsan these weekend to buy some high-end PC components, and I was wondering which is the best place to go.

I know Ttompatz posted a map a couple of weeks(or was it months?) ago, but i can't seem to find to it. I checked the sticky at the top of the board and it recommends Sonin plaza..(but the sticky is a good 4 years old, so I was wondering is that info still up to date?) And are there any shops in particular you'd recommend? Directions please?

To concur with Spliff, trudging around Yongsan can be a frustrating and fruitless experience if you are looking for anything like high-end stuff. Yongsan is full of low/mid range.

Much better to order online from.....

They should have the components you want. Even high-end.

Hey! Those aren't high-end parts!!

You can get those easily in Yongsan. Any store. They're all the same.

Now u know the prices...try to get lower in person than lowest price on danawa. Just don't pay more. Gotta hit a lot of places if ur inexperienced at Yong son. Personally, I prefer ordering online from gmarket. It has a English site and forigeners can easily join it. I generally surf for lowest price on their korean site (English site some items are priced higher, no idea why...) click on it and then u can go the the English part of the site and u'll see the item u clicked on in the Korean site in a box on the right of the screen. Just click on the item in that box and u can order it now in all English.

Also, u can buy from the Korean only sites as well. What I do is find the lowest price for what I want out of all of the many K-sites (use danawa.com) then click on the item till u get to the actual seller, scroll down to bottom of page where they always have a phone # or email address. Then I contact the person/store by email and tell them what i want and give them my address and ask for their banking info so I can deposit the money into their acct. Internet banking is the easiest way as u don't have to go to the bank ATM to deposit the money.


Takes some time to perfect but after a while u can become a master shopper like myself... Laughing

The best price on Danawa is rarely honored once you put the order in.

I'm not joking here, I used to try to order through Danawa, three times I had my wife put in an order with the cheapest dealer for three different items. Each time the dealer would call my wife the next day and say the price has changed to a higher price or that it just wasn't in stock. Then he would try to sell her something else. They're useless.

The whole Yongsan scene is centered on ease of use for the dealers. Poor poor customer service.

J-tech at son-in plaza is still the best choice for selection and prices.

they are usually close to or will even beat the prices you see on Danawa and you are in and out pretty quickly.

That and, you have to compete with the sales guys at Yongsan to get a good price. Buying online gives you peace of mind and one less heavy item to carry home.

I've gotten everything for the exact price stated there and even lower on two items.
