Right now.

I KNOW that there has been a lengthy thread on this already. And I read it. But now I want to read it again. And am I going to wade through a bagillion pages in order to find it? No.

I have my Subject Access Report from the UK. Now I need to get it apostilled. I called the embassy and they will notarise it, but is that the same thing? And, even if it is NOT the same thing, is it still acceptable by immigration?

That's my question. Answers please.

It's not the same thing. It is still acceptable by immigration.

Logic says that the Embassy trumps any local and state stuff?

Come now, we both know the davesfolk attack for little to no reason. One was merely pre-empting the sarky 'use the search funtion' and 'it's been answered already' responses.

And also, thank you, that was exactly what I needed to know.

I had a feeling that's what you were doing.

And you're welcome ^^

Are you in the UK or Korea? I believe that 'apostille' means notarise in Korean Immigration English and / or Yank.

If you're in the UK - you'll need to take it to a notary public/solicitor to get it notorised, then to the FCO to get it apostilled (legalised).

If you're in Korea - you take it to the Korean embassy to get it certified.

My cousin Vinny, a LAWYER, never heard of the term 'apostille'. It's for international documentation... They need somewhere to blame when they get scammed.

Hello hello,

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'm in Korea, and am just renewing my visa. It's my second E2, beginning my third. It seems like I can just take it there, get it notarised, and that's good enough.

Thanks again.
