Make photocopies, or better still, scans of all your documents. That way you can give copies to anybody who wants them.

I was at immigration last week applying for permission to work at an external summer camp. Much to my annoyance they did indeed keep my medical and apostilled criminal background check.

Make multiple copies of every document you might need before you go to immigration.

Does immigration accept copies as well or do you mean keep copies for yourself?

Keep the copies for yourself. Immi took my originals. Maybe I was just unlucky but I expect that this is probably the norm.

I suspect (correct me if I'm wrong) that immi now keeps your docs so that you won't be asked to continuously produce them at regular intervals, as has been the case previously. Mind you, they don't keep your degree so you may still be asked to provide proof from time to time, that you are a genuine degree holder.

Do they throw them in the trash bin or keep them on file?
Theres no way I'm going to go through the whole performance of ordering another one again when I change schools.

No, as they've always kept the documents as far back as I can remember to 1993.

They kept my original copies as well...and Im sure ill have to go through all this cocking hassle next year as well.
I made photocopies though (even though that will do no good, but for some reason psychologically comforts me).

On the other hand, documents have to be date stamped by the issuer. Documents can be no older than 6 months otherwise they are invalid.

Since the new visa changes in March, they say they'll keep your CBC and transcripts on record so you won't have to submit them again. Course, who says they won't change their minds again in 12 months time?

Why on earth will they need another CBC from your home country again 1 year later when you have obviously been in Korea?

Yeah but you're renewing for the first time since the new regs came in. Because you haven't satisfied the new legal requirements yet.

But how about those who started after March 15, with all docs provided? Do they have to jump the assault course again every year?
