I've updated my drivers. I've got a Lumion LCD and a Geforce 7600GT.

I want to set it to 75hz but it comes out completely garbled and unreadable so it just resets to 60. I want 75 cuz I think it's better for your eyes (??).

What is the deal? Thanks.

Why would you want it set to 75? You know that LCDs don't have a 'refresh rate' as such, right? No flicker, etc...

Nope, good thing I posted! So an LCD is better for my eyes at some default setting than a CRT at a high refresh rate?

Guess I'll google it cuz I thought it was a user error and not a case of the user being uninformed. Ha.

Well, this is only true in some situations. LCDs irritate my eyes for some reason, where my CRT doesn't, even at 60Hz. (though it is currently running at 85.)

Perhaps it is the contrast ratio or something, but I still prefer CRT monitors. Additionally, though human eyes may not tell the difference immediately, CRTs are capable of displaying more colors than LCDs. The main reasons, IMO, for moving to LCDs, are first, the industry is doing so, second, monitor sizes and aspect ratios, and finally, the power savings. I'm sure that cancer may factor in there over the long term as well.
