I've never come across a politician to use as many cliches as Obama.
"The road ahead will be long" for example.
At least Blair was very articulate and and made great speeches. Other than the color of the man's skin - and having a black president isn't a priority for me and nor should it be for anyone who isn't crazy about black issues - there's no reason at all to get excited about Obama. |

| I've never seen the attraction, but I always figured he has some kind of mad charisma that you have to experience in person. He always seems like he's trying to be articulate, instead of just being articulate. |

I liked him at first (out of Iraq, end Cuban embargo, health care reform tax system) but now he is backtracking on everything so who the hell knows what he stands for.
Not sure what to make of Mccain though. |

Actually, we have about 45 parties. Here are the ones who have already nominated a presidential candidate.
1 Boston Tea Party
2 Constitution Party
3 Green Party
4 Libertarian Party
5 Party for Socialism and Liberation

8 Socialist Workers Party

Exactly. If anything different is going to happen here, it's going to be on the level of local government. To me, in this country, a president basically going to keep the status quo as well as giving the rest of the world a face that can represent the country.
In regards to GWB...well...loads of politicians would have gone in to Afghanistan, Iraq, and pressed all kinds of buttons that control all kinds of missles...but the one thing that pains me the most about him is how oblivious and dumb he looks in just about every situation. Aaron McGruder was right when he said that the elephant in the room is that George Bush is just not a smart man...at all. He can't articulate himself in any way that makes sense or is worthy of someone that is running a nation, and that bugs the shit out of me.
So...on the basis of that...if I have to choose between McCain and Obama..Obama it is. |

I'm just sitting back here laughing as Obama flies around the world trying to grab international attention. He's looking grand, but not really saying anything special -- just riding out the wave. This leads "swept up" people to channel their own hopes/beliefs of what he should be into the empty space where nothing is truly said.
The problem is, the world is going to become right pissed with him when he turns out to be different than what people envision he will be like. |

Good, he'll analyze a situation when it requires a solution, not make haphazard plans and "stick to them" as the current admins have done.

Sorry. I meant two parties that stand a chance at winning the election. They spend so much money promoting themselves on TV, that the other parties aren't taken seriously by the American public. This is what I meant.
The situation is not much better in Canada where there are 3 political parties that are considered serious contenders. The problem is that Canadian comedy programs try to marginalize the 3 rd party, known as the NDP, which is more socialist and anti-corporate. The two top parties, the Liberals and The Conservatives are what the Democrats and Republicans are in the U.S. pro-corporate business parties that don't serve the public's interests. |

I don't see it as that big of a deal.
People put way too much emphasis on the Presidency. Thank goodness our founders were smart enough to limit the power of the president. In many ways the president is just a person who gives lots of speeches, nudges Congress from time to time, appoints a few judges perhaps.
Even if he sticks to his guns he won't have the magical ability to just wave his hand his 1st day in office and instantly end the war in Iraq, end the Cuban embargo, give everyone free health care, force everyone to drive a solar-powered car, etc. No one has that power --- not in the US at least -- and thank God for that. |
