hello,
i am currently in the United States and wanted to buy a power/plug converter for my appliances (laptop, hairdryer, straightening iron) before I get to Korea. I have tried to look up information and am a little confused about what to purchase. Where can I get the proper piece of equipment? Thanks! |

DON'T buy a converter in the States. They're heavy and expensive. You won't be sure if they'll work, either. When you get to Korea, ask your boss to tell you where to get a current converter...usually a hardware store, but you MIGHT find one in Emart, Homever or the like (like Wal Mart). They run about $25-$35.
One other thing: you MAY be able to get buy with the small converters (pops over the plug) IF your appliance says that it works with 220/240 current. |

People really need to clear up their terms on this issue.
Power converters/transformers will allow 110V appliances to run on 240V mains.
An adaptor is a simple little piece of plastic which allows a flat-pin plug to be used in a round-pin socket.
Those appliances which say 110V only on the sticker need a transformer/converter.
Those which say 110V-240V require an adaptor only. |

Any department store. 10k won (<$10) for a cheap hairdryer. |
