Do you anticipate the S Korean military fighting the Americans or Russians at some point soon? |

I was just surprised at the size. Only China, India, and North Korea have bigger armies. |

I think it's a bit misleading. Korea has a huge army, as it's probably the focus of their military. Their main rival is across a well-establish land border.
The US and Russian armies may be smaller, but it's because they have significant navies, air forces, etc. I would wager (I can't be bothered to look it up) that the overall sizes of each military would favor the US and Russia.
And China and India each have a billion people, so of course they're huge. And North Korea, same strategy + that's all they spend their money on.
Does that article have any pictures, because that thing sounds friggin awesome |

Almost every single Male in Korea, between the ages of 20-35 are in active duty/reserves. They've all been in the military, received training, and are expected to put on the uniform if shit hits the fan.
I think they would be a pretty efficient fighting force.
Whereas in the US, where 1 in 4 people in obese.....
I think, if the US were to have a draft, the military would be very disappointed that there aren't as many able bodied men as there used to be.
Other Americans, think about it. Go on your facebook and look at your friends who never served. How many of them could put on a 50 pound pack w/ rifle and run 1 mile without collapsing at the end.
Then again, the US brass knows this, hence the massive effort to automate and modernize the army. No point in drafting overweight soldiers when you have robots, UAV's, and guided missiles to do all the fighting for you. |

Ask any Korean male, and they'll tell you they have orders on where to go if something hits the fan.
They all know. I don't know where the cut-off age is, but given the way some of these guys are obsessed with FPS video games, I wonder what they'd be like after a few weeks of hardened combat and being dug-in?
Might be pretty interesting. |

Who cares!! More importantly starting 2008 all Foreign English Teachers to be issued with a Tazer/Baton combo. Called the Tazon this new instrument in classroom management will make the Foreign English Teacher the most well equipped and lethal enforcer of discipline and brat crowd controller.
This will be followed up in 2009 with the High Voltage Rough Surfaced Butt Plug especially designed to accommodate your tight azzed hogwon director, guaranteed to extract that bonus pay that is owed to you. |

The U.S. defense budget is more than the rest of the world combined. In today's warfare, sheer numbers are less signifigant than in the past.
And Russia's army. I saw a documentary about them a few years back, they could barely keep their basic logistics going or pay their soldiers, many of whom were regularly drunk.
It's probably cleaned up since the oil boom, however.
Nice the Korean soldiers are getting new toys. |

While serving in the US Army, I had a weapon that shot both bullets and grenades. It was the M203/M16 combo. A standard M16 rifle can be equipped with an M203 grenade launcher on the bottom side.
This has been around for quite some time. |

The US Army routinely takes fat bastards and whips them into shape in 20 weeks (basic training + infantry training). Can the Korean Army make a Korean male tough in 20 weeks? |

That was just what I needed to get me through this hungover day. You should patent that Tazon idea. Sounds just like the glow rods they use in Demolition Man. |
