Every couple of months GEPIK (and Korea) seems to announce a new programme to recruit teachers; there's the TALK programme, the plan to allow Indian and Filipino teachers (how's that going?) and now what's been nicknamed on this board as "Junior Gepik".

All these programmes seem to have 2 things in common;
1. Lowering the entry qualifications, and
2. Lowering the salary.

So I propose that GEPIK (and other agencies) should use one payscale for all its teachers and programmes. It could go something like this: (all figures in US$)

Base Salary: 300
Ability to speak marginal English: +200
Native speaker (or able to pass as one)+200
Middle school diploma: +100
High School Diploma +100
2 years of University/Community College Degree +200
BA Degree +200
MA Degree +100
PHD - 100 (yes, you're too qualified!)
South African or Irish +100
Australian, New Zealander, or British +200
Canadian or American +300
White +200
Female +200
Under 30 +100
"Handsome" or "Pretty +200
CELTA +100
Major in English/TEFL +100
Proven love of Kimchi +300

And so on.

I don't like your payscale! I'd earn less even with all the additional education from the U.S!

Female with breasts larger than 32B: +500 for the inconvenience of having everyone speak to your knockers and +50 for every time you are asked if they're real.

Every English teacher: +25 each time you're told that Korea has four distinct seasons and are able to hold back the response 'And they're all horrid'.

Sorry. Bad day for this sweaty buxom lass.

I saw a (thin) Korean woman with HUGE knockers the other day and it was hard to tear my eyes away. I wanted to ask if they were real. They couldn't be! They were really big!

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. Smile

Base salary 300,000 won.

Good natural body smell 65,000 won 'monthly bonus'. (Note. This bonus involves the NT being swept by an objective, infallible 'sniff-o-meter' which, calibrated to compensate for Western bodysmell, has a top end of 'feisty dead skunk').

Buttkisser bonus 25,000 won. (Note. This bonus is paltry because nobody likes a buttkisser).
