How does filet mignon chunks cooked medium rare in dark wine sauce with sauted red peppers and onions over a bed of fluffy rice sound? It includes a leafy salad with an orange flavored sauce on a rectangular shaped elegant plate. This classy restaurant is the Reflecting Pond Restaurant in front of the national museum at Ichon and it offers superior professional quality service you would only find in a 5 star business class hotel restaurant and the setting is like that too with the jazz music and sophisticated details. This has to be absulately the best meal I've ever had in Korea.
This is one awesome meal for only 13,000 won. The prices don't seem high for this quality. This would be a great place to take a date or your wife. It's good for the whole family too. While it's very classy, there is no dress code.
That Chakkraa Indian restaurant in Itaewon is also exceptional. There's great eating places in Seoul that just don't exist anywhere else in Korea. I'd say avoid all the chain places and try authentic foreign restaurants. |

Ichon Stn where line 1 & 4 meet. Follow the signs to the museum and you'll see advertisements for the restaurant. |

Which one is this? Are you talking about Bier Halle? Haven't tried their food, but their beer is relatively cheap (contrary to the name, there IS no microbrewed beer; only Cass and OB draft.)
Strangely this place made it on the Lonely Planet's bars of Seoul. |

I will vote these places as the best places to eat:
Myeongdong Gyoza: If the line is that long, it's gotta be good right? My wife and I waited for about 15 minutes and had their handmade mandu and kalkuksu. It was all very good IMHO. The line is constantly very long, but people get shuttled in rather quickly.
The Westin Chosun Hotel's Aria Buffet Restaurant: All-you-can-eat 4 star quality food. It's not cheap though; 45,000 a pop. But it is a great place to take a date. And the food is really good, it's not typical Korean buffet schlop you might find at someone's wedding hall wedding. Reservation are recommended (I tried the day before). |

Parapanada Seafood Restaurant is two blocks from Suwon subway station in the KT&G building, second floor.
The buffet is 12,900 won per person and includes a full Korean buffet - chicken, beef, pork, and vegetarian dishes - a full sushi bar, and a Chinese buffet - including century eggs. Plus, it also has a large buffet-style Shabu Shabu selection available.
It may not satisfy an individual looking for Western-style food, but if you like Asian food, this place is great. |

Dude, are you trolling tonight? First racism at the Hard Rock Cafe (on another thread) and now a recommendation of Chakraa? I've been to two of those in the chain and they sucked ass. Small portions and overpriced. Much better Indian options in Itaewon, and even better at Namaste or Himalayan by Dongmyo station. |

Wooriga at Sinsa Stn. (if I remember correctly), but it's not cheap.
Also this place for truly Korean food. It's sublime:

and here's another link to it:

For those of you who can read Korean, here's a great blog reviewing some excellent Korean restaurants: http://tong.nate.com/jhjin8/46008278
And yeah, Myeongdong Gyoza is excellent, but so is Shinchon Su Jae Bi as well as a myriad of other places specializing in noodle soups or dumplings around Seoul. I've had kalguksu that rivals Gyoza several times. Don't go out of your way for it.
As for Western food, I've been all over and the ONLY Western food I would recommend for someone else to try is the buffet at the Hannam-dong Hyatt, though I'm sure the Westin and Marriott are about the same. |

Uri Sik Dang in Suncheon, Chollanam-do. BEST meal in Korea. Rice, baked fish, taeng-jang chigae, pajang and 18-24 different side dishes (depends on the season). W6,000. |

jeollabuk-do and jeollanam-do definitely have a leg up on the other areas because of the massive amounts of banchan. agreed. GUNSAN! |

I too read all the posts and reviews of Chakraa and went twice. Once for the buffet. Regretted both times, wishing I'd spent the $$ elsewhere. Not terrible, but just not excellent or worth the price IMO.
The best food in that category I've had so far was the chicken at Ali Baba. Some of the best chicken I've had, but close to 20,000 after bread and VAT, and I did not leave full. Got an Arab wrap on the way home. |
