I am thinking of getting and Xbox 360 shipped to Canada via express mail. Am I going to experience any problems receiving this, or have to pay duty on it?

I am aware that I could buy one in Korea and save the costs but the Korean Xbox doesn't read North American games, and Korea doesn't sell Madden, Tigers Woods, NHL etc.

Anyone here had a system shipped to them or have had any electronics sent to them in Korea??

Unless you want to play online, just buy one here, have it chipped and never have to pay for another game again.

Forget that. I'd rather play online.

Unless the value is under 150,000 I think you will have to pay extra money. In my experience this has always been the case...anything under 150,000 has come through with no problems and anything over has been pulled up.

If you are lucky someone in Canada will buy it for you and send it as a "gift" in which case it unlikely that you will have to pay anything. Got a birthday coming up? Wink

Read it again. Even if he bought a Korean xbox and had it chipped, it STILL wouldn't play other region games. I was in the same situation because of my beloved NHL 2008 game not being sold here AND region locked too. The chip doesn't work around the region locking unfortunately. Try to make a contact on base, that's what I was able to do with a co-worker who had a friend on base who got it for me. I've been happy ever since.

A game is not region locked if it's downloaded from the internet.

That doesn't always work - its all up to customs... I had a Nintendo DS shipped to me in Canada as a gift and Customs was nice enough to hit with a $35 fee :S

That makes no sense what you just said. I download a lot of stuff, have a membership to blackcats and had downloaded countless number of games for my asian xbox360 which did work fine. BUT they were either:
a) Region-free games (some companies do this)
b) Or NTSC-J (asian version) version games

A NTSC version that you download and burn will NOT work on your Asian Xbox 360. Electronic Arts never releases region free games and therefore you are required to get the Asian version. Unfortunately games like NHL, etc. are NOT released in Asia and therefore are not playable on an Asian Xbox. Trust me I've been there and done that, that's why I went to all the trouble of getting a American Xbox.

Then what's the point of getting it chipped?

Uh, so you can burn and play games for the cost of a disk vs. spending
$50-60 on it? That's the point of getting it modded. Sure it saves you money, but you run the risk of it getting banned, as Microsoft is getting better and better at detecting modded systems. But if online play isn't important to you, and you're not much of a sports fan, than by all means buy an xbox 360 here and have it modded. But as the OP pointed out he IS a sports fan and therefore an asian Xbox just ain't gonna cut it.
