Hi,
I'm not very computer savy at all. Here's my problem. I have a desktop and a laptop at my house. Yesterday the cable/internet company re-did all the wiring in my neighbourhood. When I got home I tried to connect using my desktop but I couldn't get to any sites. Same with my laptop. The thing is, both computers say they're connected so when I try to 'repair' or change things, it says that it can't or doesn't need to.
I've tried disconnecting the modem, wires, restarting everything, etc. I'm at a loss. According to my computers they're working just fine, except they're not. I'm guessing something was just reset and maybe I just need to...I don't know. That's why I'm here.
Thanks. |

do both computer connect at the same time, i.e are you running a home network?
if they are do some ping tests to see if data is getting through.
find out what your IP addresses are on both machines, when your net is 'connected' double click the network icon by the clock, click the support tab and get your IP. should be something like 64.126.135.54
then go to Run and type cmd
then type ping and put in the IP from you OTHER PC
it will send some data, if it works it will tell you, if it fails itll tell you too....
if it works.
trying pinging and internet address, something like www.google.com
if the internal ping works, then perhaps your router or something has an error...
this is of course all on the presumption that your using one... |
