"The U.S. Board of Geographic Names recent decision to label Dokdo with undesignated sovereignty has caused some South Koreans and government officials to feel betrayed."

http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2893044

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA...betrayed!!!!!

Nevermind the past anti-US administrations, the flag burning during 2002 tank incident, children singing "F***ing USA" songs, the pro-North Korea sympathies, anti-US beef rallies, attempts to remove General MacArthur's statue, and daily spite against Americans.

Of all people, Koreans are betrayed by the US!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Damn America for leaning towards Japan for a closer alliance! Who do they think they are!!! Korea #1 Laughing Laughing Laughing

Indeed. Couldn't happen to a nicer country. Wink

You reap what you sow. South Korea is getting a bumper crop.

This is what many here wanted back in 2002 when they were singing the "F-ing Americans" song with nationalistic glee in their eyes. I'll never forget that, and I'm sure the US military hasn't either.

I'm sorry, but you can't have your cake and eat it too, Korea. You have brought this on yourselves and your children.

Enjoy your coming freedom from the US military. It's what you protested for.

I try to stay mildly objective when it comes to stuff like this...but it's pretty amusing. I attended multiple vigils to take pictures and I've heard/read some bad stuff about America in the past few months...and yet some Koreans are upset about America's stance on Dokdo? Sheeeeeeeesh.

It's just a shame that they will never, ever see it this way.

What most Koreans don't know is that that "F'n USA" song that fueled their hatred back in 2002, was originally written by a Japanese person.

In the old days, noisy children would get their tempers put in check by their parents with a good hiding (lesson).

What is the US suppose to do? They are taking a neutral stance on the issue(refreshing actually). This is why the world has the U.N. . Let Korea and Japan fight it out there.

You would figure Ban Ki Moon would take a more proactive stance on issues like US beef and Dokdo.

Aren't Koreans pissed that the guy jsut sits on the sidelines and does nothing relevant?

It's been restored, by President Bush himself.

U.S. Board Marks Dokdo as Korean at Bushs Orders

The Board on Geographic Names under the U.S. Geological Survey on Wednesday corrected the entry for Dokdo on its database from undesignated sovereignty to South Korea, ending a weeklong uproar in Korea. The BGN restored the description at around 5:30 p.m. under both the country and first-order administrative division categories, putting an end to anger over the new designation that had stirred Korea since the news broke last Friday.

At 1 p.m. the same day, U.S. President George W. Bush in a special interview with Asian reporters at the White House said he was well aware of the issue. I asked (Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice) to review it, and the database will be restored where it was seven days ago, he said.

...

I was hoping they'd keep "Liancourt Rocks is disputed territory."

So Bush has backed the Koreans. So much for a nuetral stance.

1) I suspect the Japanese don't consider "Liancourt Rocks" to be that important.

2) This entire issue about "Korea standing up to the USA" sure sounds like it's been manufactured by both sides to allow LMB to be able to claim that he "stood up to the USA." LMB may have come out the blocks slowly, but he's learning how to punch and counterpunch.

Its no surprise that 2MB and Bush came to an understanding when 2MB visited Camp David. Is is no wonder Bush would do this. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

The US is also taking the "hit" for LMB by dealing with Kim Jong-Il, while LMB can sit on the sidelines and snarl at KJI all he wants.
Yes, Bush is helping out his friend, LMB, as much as he can.
