Can anyone tell me the best place in Gwangju to stock up on foreign foods?

I normally live in the middle of nowhere, but I am teaching at a camp there for two weeks, and want to take the chance to stock up on some stuff.

Bonus if anyone knows where to get Wheat Thins. I got some last weekend in Seoul and have remembered how much I love them.

In the Underground Mall in Gwanju (I forget the name of where it is), there is a store called The Underground Grocer that carries Western food.

I go to the underground grocer every Saturday, it's downtown. I go with another teacher, if you're in the area and want to meet up PM me and we'd love to show you where it is. It can be a pain to find.

Awesome. I won't be there until Sunday, but I'm definitely interested.

easy enough to find, small shop. good if you are from north america, not so good if you are from anywhere else. Didnt like the bacon. that said they have massive slabs of cheese at a reasonable price, good for stocking up on that fatty tasty cheese goodness. some interesting cerials too.

Also, the store is owned by a Canadian guy who is married to a Korean, if I am not mistaken.

It's called the Underground Grocers and the tagline / motto is "Purveyors of All Things Not Kimchi." It's in the Geumnamno Underground shopping mall, close to the YMCA downtown, stall J20 (I believe) across the hall from Tokyo Juice. It's open on weekends and most weekdays. I'm not sure, but I think it's closed Tuesdays.

There's also a Philippino store/restaurant behind Migliore, not too far from the Underground grocers. If you can find Migliore, go about one or two blocks behind it and turn left. It'll be on your right hand side, about a half block off of the river. It's called KP line and it has a few other things like A&W / Barqs Root Beer, Cheeze Whiz, etc. A slightly different, less Western selection. It is also a restaurant, though I'm not sure how good it is.

A few department stores are getting better and better with their selection of foreign foods. Try Shinsegae by the bus terminal or Home Plus (Munheung Dong or Duam Dong).
