So . . . I've got about 3 days plus weekend off at Chosuk, like everyone else. I still haven't been to Jeju, and I thought about taking those five days to be a beach bum. I'm coming back from China only two weeks before, so I don't want to spend a lot of money.

I already found a relatively cheap flight. I'm thinking about heading down with no real plan. Just hit the beach, eat some good food, maybe rent a bike and see the countryside. Do you think I will get bored in 4-5 days? Does this sound doable? I'd like to book the flight tonight.

Well definitely see the sites while you're there! There are a lot of sites unique from the rest of Korea that is in Jeju island. They have a good amount of waterfalls. Unique statues as well you can see: Jeju stone Statue Park, amongst others. I actually went horseback riding there at moderately good prices too. And they offer good rates on fishing. You can have spots to go fishing for red snappers as well. ~

You must have a great boss to be able to get extra time off for Chuseok this year since Chuseok falls on a Sunday meaning you get Saturday and Monday off. Since most don't work Saturday there is only one official day off this year.
Jeju is pretty cool though. Go to the official tourism site

Be careful though, last year we were on Geoje, and on the official day of Chuseok almost the entire city was shut down. We eventually found a Mr. Pizza for lunch, but it took probably an hour of wandering. Might have to eat at a corner store for the day.

Tons to do!
First when you get off the plane head to the tourism desk just before you exit and ask for the English Jeju travel book. It has everything in it with maps, pics, directions, descriptions, and times. This will get you started on where to go.

When you get to the island head to see Mr Lee. He speaks english well and rents scooters to Foreigners. You could also get a motorbike. It's seriously the best way to see the island. His number is 011-699-8562.

I recommend Hamdeok beach and if you head to the far end, away from all the people you will hit the area most foreigners hang out at. Gwakji beach is also really nice and if you are there and facing the ocean head down past the pier thing on the right and continue on you will see a beautiful area with no lifeguards who get to be a bit much in korea. If your there during the week as well you may well be one of the only people there and it is seriously an awesome feeling. Check out loveland at night. That is in ShinJeju. Seriously worthwhile and definitely take a camera.

If you like to hike there are some really nice ones up Halla mountain. I recommend Eorimok or Youngshil. They take you to almost the top with beautiful views.

Udo island is great and definitely worth a ferry trip over if you like to snorkel. Head to the black sand beach which has the best snorkeling and there is a cave that you can snorkel in. The coral beach is pretty awesome there as well.

If you are looking for a place to chill and meet people with really crazy cheap strong booze head to GP bar. If you go to chicheung or cityhall area on the same street as Holly's cafe and head up the hill you will see a sign for gp go upstairs.

Seriously 5 days will let you see only a few of the highlights of Jeju.
