PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Republican John McCain on Friday defended his campaign's new Web ad mocking Barack Obama as a presumptuous messianic figure, saying it was important to "display a sense of humor" in the presidential contest.

The new ad, with a voiceover calling Obama "The One," features clips of the Democratic contender appearing to describe himself and his presidential quest in grandiose terms � saying such things as, "This was the moment when the rise in the oceans began to slow, and our planet began to heal." The ad ends with Charlton Heston as Moses parting the Red Sea in the movie, "The Ten Commandments."

Quite honestly, I think the campaign has become rather boring. There isn't anything to say about either candidate that hasn't already been said. Instead of waiting for one of them to stumble, can't we just skip over to November and be done with it?

I'm actually surprised McCain is stooping so low. I always thought he was the Republican candidate that was against that sort of thing. I also thought that was one of the major reasons he defeated Romney, a guy who had NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER doing all attack ads and nothing else.

Then again, McCain isnt really FOR anything whatsoever, he's running on the 'Im not that guy' campaign (which reminds me of Kerry 4 years ago). So if he isnt doing attack ads, what else does he have to talk about?

I don't know, I find Obama reeking of leadership skills that American badly needs. As a person interested in Obama's campaign, I just find it impressive he knows the correct answer, the timing, and just shows...well, leadership skills.

For Republicans, there is hope for them with their negative ads. Many Republicans on here strongly support propoganda and negative images. I think it says a lot. For Republicans, if McCain doesn't get elected, I think the mass majority will feel no real loss there. Four years later, they will be eagerly looking forward to whatever other possibilities that might present themselves.

Reminds me so much of Kerry's "not Bush" campaign. Kerry presented NOTHING, got slaughtered in the process, never reacted to ANYTHING of the onslaughts. Completely forgettable, and I've never heard any DEM ever say they wish Kerry would run again. It just won't happen. Same with McCain, I feel. His last ditch effort with his age, everything seems stacked way against him, and just 'not Obama' with the real strong conservative crowds is the only thing holding his campaign together.

His 'maverick' image of yesteryear, has no relevance whatsoever anymore. Young voters are just gonna see the 'leader' type person and the 'old dude' whining. American voters are very unpredictable, but I think for the many diehard Republicans out there, they gotta be gritting their teeth and just 'praying' the shit they toss at Obama sticks.

Of course the campaign is boring now - Hillary has been pushed out.

We'll get some entertainment if there are enough switches among the superdelegates to put her over the top alongside the very close pledged delegate count at the convention's roll call vote.

someone should remind Mccain hes STILL not gonna win the war in vietnam, even if he does win the election.

the closest he can come is maybe having connie chung as his personal consort in Washington, to help with the PSSD symptoms. He'll have to teach her to fake not speaking English and being from the 'nam... not sure of Chinese have an issue with that.

Something tells me Cindy will be ok with this. drunks can usually be convinced to try anything at least once...
