So now most of us Hagwon teachers are coming back from our 1 week mandatory vacation. Share the stories of your non-Korean food experiences (or Korean, if you stayed in the country).

I went to Taiwan and ate a bite of "Stinky tofu". I swear to god this stuff smells like rotting trash and homeless man's arm pits. It was a shock because when the stuff isn't hot, the smell isn't so bad. But onceyou put it in your mouth, OMG, it is painfull to your senses. I have never spit food out in front of people, but I did at a crowded table this time.

On a good note, I got to drink as much bubble tea as I could handel. It was heaven in a chewy tapioca form!

Oh - - Cho Do Fu!

I remember that stuff well; the carts seemed to be everywhere and one time I lived in an apartment near one of those carts and couldn't escape the smell.

I never tried it though. There seems to be an equivlent here in Korea , although I am not sure what they are trying to say.

As for me, I had sashimi and so go gi , and spent a few bucks for them. But they were good. Eaten on one of the southern islands and islets of the country, they were especially good with beer.

This place isn't so bad with a little money and time.

I've got two months off so I've been to New York and London. In New York I ate some great bagels and bialys, a few excellent burritos, great salads (including the best tomato I've ever tasted - who would have thought that something as simple as a tomato could induce such pleasure?), fantastic home-cooked Italian food, pizza from Little Italy, okay falafel, and bad Thai. In London, I had the greatest plate of beans on toast I've ever had (due to having waited two years for it), crunchy-nut corn flakes and the best refried bean burrito I've ever had with the hottest chili sauce I've ever had (from the Dogstar in Brixton - check it out next time you're there).

God, I love eating.

I didn't leave Korea but I did go to Costco. I drank icecold absolut straight from the bottle and ate smoked salmon with my fingers while finishing up season 5 of The Wire.

I won't even list all of the yummy foods I ate on my vacation, but I will say it took every ounce of strength in my body to get on the plane and come back to Korea. I cried in the taxi on the way to the airport, I cried at the check-in counter, and I cried as soon as my plane touched down in Incheon. Singapore was awesome!!!!!!!!!! How could anyone "want" to come back to Korea after being in Singaproe? The people are awesome for the most part, the food is amazing, it is so green and clean and lush. It smells great, too. I like Korea, but geez, there are better places out there.
