All the kids pitched up ready to go this morning but the school has decided to cancel the scheduled group trip to Japan.
The reason?

"Japan is insist on claim our territory. since then most Koreans avoid to travel to japan".

Laughing

Don't you think thats a bit extreme??

Do they think a war is going to break out?

Most probably they think they'd get attacked in the streets of japan.

Sounds like an excuse to me.

Maybe someone rain off with the parents' money, and they're using the dokdo thing as a smokescreen for now until they figure out how to break it to everyone.

Sounds about right. There is all kinds of corruption going on. Teachers snagging coin, selling test questions, heisting funds marked for other uses.

This Dokdo thing is getting really silly. Korea has had control of them since 1954. What more does Korea want? I know Japan considers them a part of Japan, but if Japan really wanted a few boring rocks, then they'd take it by force.

I just got back from Tokyo. I took the same bus and the same plane as my students because I saved some money that way, and I never heard Dokdo mentioned once from anyone on the way there, or back. Your school must be a bit nuts.

My guess is that some of the parents complained after soaking up the whole emotional dokdo TV news last week.
My 2 vice-principals definitely seem overly concerned by what the parents think.

the "takeshima mondai" has/had made its way around the news places here in japan when they announced the textbook change.
while the average person might not care, it has made it into the news.
and reports about schools cancelling trips to japan have been written in a few papers.

heck, even one of my co-workers was like, "why did your president say that takeshima belongs to korea?!"
