Without assigning a grade or being overly judgemental, I do reckon this guy's done really well, 'cos this is one of the greatest, and hardest songs for a non-native singer to master.

What other 'famous' English language 'pop song' would be harder?
1.) REM's The End of the World as We Know it.
2.) ...? |

"I Believe I can Fly" by periodic degenerate R Kelly. Bare infinitive clauses, modals, if/then constructs. |

Haa ha yeah I like One Week. I didn't know it was Barenaked Ladies. Great video too.
One thing though, how would you explain the lines:
"Gotta get in tune with sailor moon
Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing"
...?
I Believe I can Fly, yeah, good points about the grammar, thanks. Definately useful.
I see the beauty of song as being the perfect context for rapid rote learning of vast amounts of text, which is why I'm thinking more of the longer lyrics with rapid-fire delivery and little to no repetition: a challenge for confident higher-level students, and culturally appropriate in this country of excellent singers.
Some Bob Dylan would be good, especially if sung by someone with a voice (poor Bob is likely to turn uninitiated Koreans off, I'd guess). |

That was darn cute... the dancers doing air guitar. He's definitely got the chicken-wing thing going on and the wind-up at the end--nice flourish.
Quote: |
Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B Good
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play the guitar just like ringin a bell
Chorus:
Go, go, go jonny go go
go johnny go go
go johnny go go
go johnny go go
johnny be good
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Or sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Oh an engineer could see him sitting in the shade
Strummin' to the rhythm that the drivers made
People passing by they'd stop and say
Oh my but that little country boy can play
Chorus
His mother told him some day you will be a man
And you will be the leader of a big old band
Many people coming from miles around
And hear you play your music till the sun goes down
Maybe someday your name gonna be in light
Sayin' Johnny be good tonight
Chorus |
Here ya go, Bob with flashcards:

(you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows)
Flashcards from Weird Al... which are, weird. |

Haa ha, yeah, that's a great song, and almost as good as Weird Al Yankovich's:
http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=Nej4xJe4Tdg&feature=related
"Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog!"
They're all palindromes, which is why they don't quite make sense. Quite like the average Bob Dylan lyric really. |

Considering most native speakers can't handle this song, I don't know if I'd bet my paycheck that any Koreans would be able to. |

I never realized that is one long sentence.
Can anyone think of a longer sentence in a song? A lot of songs have little fragments that could be thought of as a sentence, but this is really an actually correct setence. |
