Hi,

So I've got to come up with an idea for a school event that will promote learning English in a fun way. We already have a market day now and again, so i need to think of something new. Maybe a singing contest or a speech contest? I'm pretty clueless to be honest.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions and details, especially if you've had success yourself.

Thanks

Treasure hunt with clues in Enslish, you can change the difficulty easily.

Golden bell question knock out style competion.

Sports/Olympics if you have the space?

Craft day, lots of prep needed but can be great if you have really good support from other teachers......

Have a story divided into different part and hide a section of each around the school get the kids to find the parts and wriyte them down and try to make the story, easy to change the difficuly.....

(sorry of any spelling mistakes this keyboard is horrid to use)

If you want Olympic materials -- try http://eflclassroom.ning.com/wpage/olympics. The Olympic project worksheets are great + many more worksheets / handouts etc....

I'd go for a Camp ______ Idol contest. How?

Very easy. Go to EFL Classroom 2.0 and click Resources - Music and Karaoke - Gosing. Download all the .mid songs and the player. Install the player, hit the arrow keys and load up the songs and a photo with one click. Bingo! You have a great , full screen karaoke system. Hundreds of songs!

Copy/print the list of songs and students can choose.

Nope, I saw it on the internet (pics of a hogwan doing it) and then last week at a meeting my supervisor suggested it because she saw it on a Daum cafe.
