Question "Last September, the government tightened visa regulations after a group of native English teachers were arrested on charges of smoking hemp, mandating E-2 visa applicants to submit police checks and undergo blood tests. But it suddenly withdrew the regulation on March 15, saying 'In some countries, smoking marijuana is not illegal. Thus, we see the restriction is unnecessary.''"

Really, when I changed schools, I had to submit a background check. This journalist should check his sources.

I wonder who received a harsher punishment, the Ghanian or the Korean. That's what I really want to know. Oh, a Korean was caught but foreigners are the subject of the article. I've never read anything about cracking down on Koreans.

I suggest you aim your query at the relevant authorities. Rolling Eyes

Try Thailand for drug offenses ... Most would be happy with detention and deportation. Here, you could get the death penalty. It is unlikely to happen with some weed, but you could spend a significant amount of time in the Bangkok Hilton.

Stoners may not be criminals, but they really dont contribute much to society.

It is a gateway drug, but ignoring that for a moment, they just pretty much dont do much. I've seen Canadians here, who by and large seem fairly on the ball, get a wild-eyed glaze going when it's time to go home, and all they fixate on is getting "the straight dope."

Quite surprising that the authorities took the entire hagwon down. That's sort of a rarity these days, huh?

Yeah. You know the rules coming into this country. You got caught. I pity the tax payers of the nation who have to send embassy staff down to the jail to tell these idiots they have a right to a lawyer.

In all fairness, most of the people I've known who were stoners usually were the type to put "smoking the weed" above even their own personal safety and well being. Not exactly the kind of mates I'd like to have working for me if I were a business owner.

The extreme illegality of it in Korea puts me off it. But, years gone by the odd puff used to give me lots of inspiration - a new way of writing, a new solution to a problem.
Nowadays I feel that I am just a slave to the rhythm. Work and duties takes up 80% of my thinking - and I am on vacation!
My work invariably follows the same pattern. To a point that I am getting worn down by the sheer sameness of it day in and day out.
The State wants this. It wants people to be automatons.
I wish it could at least allow people to be happy, contented automatons.

It was originally a profuse plant that grew just about anywhere, free for the picking.
It was made a drug when people had to buy it from dealers.

In my uni days I might have a puff and would get into cleaning. My house would become a place of peace and beauty. I put in some new wallpaper, you know, inspired.
Now I sit in my house and hardly give a fㅗck if the place is messy and colorless and the furniture sags.

A pot-free life is hardly an improvement.

Maybe it is just here, the city: grey and resolute environment. It does very little for the soul.

Oh, homecoming! Clean grass that I can sit on without being attacked by insects. Only 500 days or so to go!

I have zero sympathy for these darn fools smoking pot in Korea.

My first year in Korea I had to share an apartment with som dumb pot head. Knowing the rules for Korea I gave him a choice either get rid of all of it or I would rat him out.

He moved his smoking to another guys place. They all got busted, but at least I was OK.
