Anyone have any samples?

Like: If you could be president what would you change?

What would be the perfect day for you?

An external link would be great too.

See EFL Classroom's Scribd files. Writing folder.
http://www.scribd.com/people/documents/1005075/folder/30547?page=2

1001 prompts is good but I also like my own essay topics hand out there...

Lots of other essay prompts too... Of course see the Resources for even more , click the tab.

To avoid cheating, use topic such as: My first best friend; The best vacation I ever had; The worst/best teacher I ever had, and the like.

Of they're older, you can ask about first dates and first kisses. You may want to give them 2 or 3 to choose from so if they didn't have one experience, they may have had the other one.

What works best for me is to key the essay question to the grammar, vocabulary and topic of the week's lesson. That way the students have a shot at knowing how to answer, have the grammar structures needed, the vocabulary and have spent some time talking about it and hearing a variety of points of view.

For middle school , the ENVIRONMENT works really well.
I was surprised how much effort alot of the kids put into their work.
The majority of the essays were on ENDANGERED ANIMALS and something to do with JAPAN ,but I cant remember what.

Thanks for the positive comments. Just giving teachers what is right and needed. The tools to get the job done, if they so wish to do a good job.

I'll be sorting those resources more , the next month. Takes a lot of time but I know teachers from everywhere appreciate the effort. Hopefully I'll get some teachers starting to use the bookstore more... a little commission will help defray the costs ......... http://eflclassroom.ning.com/wpage/books

Check the resources on EFL Classroom 2.0. Lots more described there.... But I never want teachers to pay for a book if it is there free. Education should get a pass and our students deserve such.....

I'll also mention the very little used video conferencing room. A great and free way to phone home. Perfect and cam streaming, all private.

Cheers,
DD
