My wife, although not single and really not working, as she is staying home taking care of our 10 month old son, does some computer editing from home. I know this is not what you are looking for, but maybe we could hook up with the kids for a day out in the park. I know she is always looking for a Western mother whom she can relate to and chat to about some of the stories and woes that she is going through. If this is of interest, or we can be of any support, drop me a PM. |

Most single mothers are too busy to hang out on Dave's all day. |

I am a single mother of two. My ex-husband won't pay me any child support and he makes over 5 million won per month teaching English in Korea. In fact, I have contacted authorities in Canada, but they won't help me. Is there anything that the Korean government can do for me?

I'd be incredibly shocked if there are any single mother native English teachers here with their children. Korea's not an open-minded society, by a long shot. |

The OP must either be a troll or a nutcase...why does she think anyone here would care about her problem? |

Exactly. Could you imagine the ridicule they would receive here? They'd probably be treated like trash, even though some Korean women do some pretty lewd, disgusting things themselves. Like the ones who still party in clubs and drink and smoke when they are pregnant, like one of my Korean coworkers was teling me. Of course, there was an excuse though. her friend was pregnant for 2 months and didn't know it. yeah right-o! |

Well, teaching English in Korea as a single mother is pretty irresponsible, but I guess that'd be right up their alley. Ah, that's right, being a single mother is considered heroic nowadays. My bad. |

No doubt, the Canadian courts can issue an order which will apply to him when he returns to Canada or when he needs to renew his passport. If the law in Canada permits an arrest warrant to be issued, you could agitate with the Crown Attorney/Counsel/Prosecutor (whichever it's called in your home province/territory) for extradition proceedings. I understand those are kind of expensive for the government. Your other option is to spend an immense amount of money through the Korean courts. By immense, I mean several orders of magnitude more than what you're owed by the ex.
If you're lucky, this can also be something that will appear on a records check and then he'll be SOL as far as working in Korea is concerned.

If you think married = single, maybe you need a refresher course in the English language.

Never happen. What hagweon employer, all of whom are quivering in the boots at the mere thought of the mommy brigade getting word of any kind of unsavory issue at their hagweon, would sponsor a single mother into the country? |

She might be separated yet still married.
She previously posted in a thread about getting divorced in Korea. |
