Has anyone taken a look at the latest series of approved HS textbooks that have come out. Apparently there are now 17 officially approved grade one textbooks, each of which now comes with an activity book as well. Like with every previous approved HS textbook I've seen, they all contain instructions in Korean and don't cover English grammar very systematically. On the plus side, many of them have really updated the cultural content to include things that teenagers will be more interested in.
Has anyone here done much more investigation of them or worked with any of the latest round? I've been asked by my coworkers for my opinion, but it's pretty hard to scan 17 textbooks and 17 activity books and come up with a definite opinion of something I haven't even tried to use yet. I get to subsitute teach a few of our grade 3 let's-make-our-students'-summer-as-crappy-as-possible classes next week and might try out some photocopied pages from a few of these grade 1 textbooks to see how easy they are for the students to follow and for a native speaker to teach from. |
