I can take a wild guess who was behind it. How did you get your account back?

The guy didn't change the password. He just simply made a change to my avatar. I log in regularly enough, and I immediately saw that someone changed my avatar to something crazy, so I immediately changed my password to something stronger.

Alright. Noted.
Good thing he or she didn't do anything too malicious beyond that. But I think we know your posting style well enough to spot an 'impersonator'. At least I do, I think.

Yes, but that's not enough. He should be stopped from using this forum, and I don't know how he got into my account.

This happened to me in late 2006. Someone started a thread by Big_Bird called "Who is the biggest jerk on the CE forum?"

The first I knew about it was when the mods scolded me for it!

I immediately changed my password to something very scrambled and impossible to guess.

I'm not sure why the parents thought that would be amusing, but in the end the cat claws the kids shirt and uses the kid as leverage to rescue itself while the kid falls in. The parents could have thought that watching the kid get pwned by a cat was equally amusing.

Adventurer, could you describe the avatar you discovered?

Steps away to avoid being splashed!

I doubt the water looked deep enough to be of concern. Sometimes kids need to learn the hard way!

Does not matter how deep the water was. That was a pretty cruel thing to do, given how cats feel about water. I can forgive the kid, I guess. But I wonder why the adults (his parents?) were tacitly encouraging this thing and filming it. Was it staged? America's Funniest Videos wanna-be or something similar?

Where did you get the avatar, Merkurix?

Yes, I agree it was irresponsible to let the kid carry the cat that way. Poor kitty. The cat might even have scratched the kid. I was thinking more about the kid falling into the water. They've gotta learn these things sometime!

Adventurer,

Do you or the mods have an idea who did it? I wonder if it's related to the person registering and posting porn?

Was it really that easy to hack someone's password?

Now I'm thinking of changing mine.

Well, the password was not changed. So, it is possible that someone clicked on the link and changed the link somehow on the avatar if that makes sense and didn't know the password. As far as who did it, it could theoretically be anyone, but it could also be the person who hit the boards with porn. He must be desperate and trying different measures to mess Dave's and go after posters. I can't really say. I don't know what the mods can really tell me. A mod said they have been taking measures to deal with the person trying to cause problems on the board.
