I'm going home and want to keep some clothes and books that will probably exceed my baggage limit.

I've heard rumors, perhaps wildly inaccurate, of getting stuff shipped to the U.S. really cheaply (and VERY slowly) by boat - which would be great as I don't need the stuff right away, I'd rather just not part with it. I don't know if this would be through the p.o. or a shipping company...

I thought I would ask for anyone with such experience before I try asking at the post office....

Thanks.

Go to the POST OFFICE. Worked fine for me. Thru here size/wieight may matter. A small neighbourhood one may cause grief. Go to a larger one. The one thing to worry about is limits. If you have something really heavy like a TV or furniture porbally will be refused. But for shipping books and general junk. It will work!

The post office will sell you the boxes (various sizes) and tell you the weight limit for each size of box. It's not very expensive. Roughly W40,000 per box (depending on what is inside).

I don't think you can slow boat to the U.S. anymore, so you might want to be prepared to pay a little more. Sometimes EMS is cheaper than airmail, especially as the package gets heavier.

I shipped from San Francisco to Busan with these dudes. Don't do the slow boat. It is not much more expensive to go air freight. Try emailing if you can't get someone on the phone. Also, if that company doesn't work out, there are many other surfable companies that will do it. GET INSURANCE!
