Hey

Anyone know how much it costs to get this type of thing done in Korea? (Just for small, not raised moles).

You really need to have a consultation before a price can be given. It depends on the number of moles and the size of the area that needs to be treated.

If you'd like to set up an appointment with a dermatologist send me a pm.

I had a mole on my cheek removed. It only cost 30 dollars. Just find a place that says pibukwa and make sure that the medical staff speak English. After all, you are talking about doing a medical procedure.

I heard it can be done for 5,000 won a mole. Another foreigner I knew in Changwon said his wife had it done at the laser cosmetic clinic her parents ran, but they never got around to showing me as they were always busy on Saturday and I ended up leaving. I want to get this done too.

I wonder if it might be easier to find when in Thailand? I seem to find anything easier there such as a dentist and optical shop for example. There's also more English speakers who can help give you directors or services. It's just tough to find many products and services in Korea, but a Korean can help when they have time.

In Thailand I just walked into Chiang Mai hospital and the dermatologist took a mole off for cheap the next day. I can't remember the price, but it was around $30. She told me that raised moles can grow back.

I'd go with a hospital, street clinics are everywhere but some of them look a bit dodgy. Some of the clinics charge a one-off price for 'powering up the laser' or something like that, so it can be cheaper to get a few done all at once. The laser is bloodless.

What do you mean by Chiang Mai hospital? I'm looking on my city map and see Chiang Mai Ram 1 hospital and Central Chiang Mai hospital (there are also many others without the words Chiang Mai in them). What area of town was it?

I'll probably just do that in Chiang Mai then.

Sorry, I don't remember. If you look some maps of Chiang Mai there is an area highlighted in the shape of a square for the central area of Chiang Mai. If you turn the map so that the river is parallel to the bottom face of this square, then the hospital I went to was near the upper face of the square, nearer the right hand side than the left or middle. So, I think it was Chiang Mai Ram 1 but I'm not 100% sure.

My advice; check out their websites, pay a short visit while in Chiang Mai. If the hospital is set up to take care of foreign patients then you should be okay.

The laser removal stings ever so slightly and I had to apply ointment, wear a small bandage for a few days. I had one on my eye removed and I am very squeamish. No problems for me.

I recommend seeing a dermatologist beforehand, although I imagine all of the practitioners should have knowledge in the field, a dermotologist will advise you on whether it should be removed or not (I never enquired about this, but I thought a mole was an indicator of skin cancer...if you remove the mole are you removing a possible indicator of skin cancer?).

The hospital I went to had dentists, haemotolists, the whole shebang.

Usually, the mole partially grows back, but is just not very obvious compared to previously. So, you still get a warning about skin cancer if the mole changes in color, etc.
