I'm putting together another midnight runner podcast with Rod Ellis this next week. He will discuss task-based teaching. Does anyone have any questions they would like to hear discussed? Please post in this thread.

Also, I recorded Paul Robertson from the Asian EFL Journal today. He has lots of really great information I can't wait to place up on the podcast. I'm in Busan, and need to do some editing work... not sure if I'll be able to get it done in the next few days or not. Hopefully so!

I would like to know what he thinks about all of the English villages popping up all over Korea. Does he think it's a good trend? Do these types of villages exist in other countries? What have the results been?

Much of his work recently has been on feedback and error correction, and their role in SLA. (The recast, in particular, in communicative activity, as well as a variety of feedback methods in writing practice. If you could get him to talk on these issues that'd be great.

In detail, what does he think the effectiveness of re-writes are in students' writing exercises? Is the additional output neccesary for long term acquisition, or is simply noticing the error (and the teacher's corrections) enough?

Is TBL a suitable approach for beginners, false beginners, and children who haven't yet got a basic command of the language to tackle tasks?

I have some questions that I have thought of:

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of TBL?
2. Would he recommend any other forms of teaching (Guided Discovery, traditional methods, etc) for specific circumstances? Why or why not?
3. What was the best and worst TBL lesson that you have taught?
4. How would you recommend teachers learn more about developing their teaching skills?
5. Should L2 be used in the classroom? Why or why not? (Any examples would be great).
6. How often do you use TBL in the classroom? Why?

It would be really great if he could answer those questions above. Again BX, great job on the podcast.

I'd like to know in what ways he thinks that native English teachers who only teach students a minority of their English lessons (say, HS students getting 4 lessons a week with a KET, one with a FT, and perhaps more at an academy with a KET) can be most effective.
