Hey, I'm thinking of getting a Nintendo DS. I've read that it's regionless, but some friends I was talking with today said that it isn't (i.e. that I should buy one from Amazon.com if I want to use it in English).
I'd really like to buy a Nintendo DS Lite in Seoul tomorrow . . . and save postage, and waiting for it (6 hours of subway during the week is really starting to get to me!), but my friends said that I'd only be able to buy and use Korean games on it!
I'm a bit worried about buying one from Amazon.com, because of the power cord (I hate the different plugs and worry about everything)!
So what's the verdict:
1) If I buy a Nintendo DS lite here in Korea, can I change it to run in English and play English games?
2) If not, and I buy one from Amazon.com, how will I charge it? (Do I need to buy a Korean power cord for it?) |

What about games . . . must I buy them elsewhere or get one of those download cards to have them in English?
I've gone through the DS website, and have a few games in which I am interested in getting (including a few of the Wii games). |

| You could buy them elsewhere, although dealers in Seoul (especially the Yongsan area) may have some English titles stocked. Additionally, you could acquire a chip that enables you to acquire games online, and that would also be readily available in Seoul. (Not that I would endorse any kind of illegal activity.) |

Very simple.
Buy a DS here and turn it to the English setting - it's now just as a good as a DS you would have bought in the States.
Then make sure you get an EDGE card from one of the guys in Yongsan with an external chip 2 or 4 GB.
After that, head over to btjunkie.org and type in the game you want with nds on it. Download it through azureus, drag and drop the damn thing on your EDGE cartridge and never, ever pay for a DS game again. Piracy is your friend. |
