Hey all,

So I have a CRC (actual print version) in my hand from my home state of Montana. My question is this. Will S. Korea accept a CRC check from one state but apostilled by another such as Oregon. I only ask because I can drive 45 mintutes and take car of it in less then 2 hours as opposed to mailing back to Montana and waiting.

Tough call there, Ghohn.

Does the CRC you hold in your hand have an official notary seal on it? If so, then normally the state where the document was notarized would be the state where you would have it appostillized. The purpose of the apostille is to verify the notary seal is an authorized one.

Call Oregon's Dept. of State and ask them if they will apostillate an out-of-state document. And make sure you tell them what country (ROK) the document is bound for.

Chances are that Oregon won't tough that document...one of the main functions of the apostille is to verify the notarization.

Oregon can't do that for Montana. Good luck though...you may find a loophole...but don't plan on it.

You also need the apostille stamp on your degree, Ghohn. So while you're at it, have a color copy of your diploma notarized to send too.

Call ahead and see what their turn-around time is. It took a week in the mail for Wario's to get there and back for the state of Pennsylvania. Include a self-addressed return envelope (document size).

I think I will go the Montana apostille route since it is already Montana notarized. The women I spoke with at Oregon's state capital said people generally don't like seeing dual notaries on the same paper.

I'll play it safe on this one and send it through the mail back to Montana.

What is all of this business about notarizing things? I didn't notarize a thing. I got my check from Maryland. I sent it to the Sec. of State. I got the Apostille. I got my visa number. Why notarize anything?
