I think this may have been mentioned before, but I'd just like to throw it out there anyway....
I emailed the Korean Consulate in Fukuoka asking whether I could get my first E-2 there after having my degree verified by the Korean Council for University Education. I was pretty insistent it was my first E-2; should I ask for this in writing just to be sure?

| Should be okay as well. If you've had an E-2 you don't need to return to your home country for an interview, the visa run's definitely on. I think..... |

As long as you've had your credentials verified through the KCUE...you can most definitely obtain your first E2 visa at any KCG office world-wide without the interview requirement.
2nd timers...3rd...same applies...as long as your immigration record is clean.
I've been doing this process for a few months now with the teachers I recruit for my director's two schools...we haven't had a single problem yet...we're 4 for 4 so far...with an additional 4 teachers going later this month.
The information the Fukuoka consulate gave you was spot on.
Word to this wise though...you should still bring your original diploma as well as extra transcripts for your travels...they may be useful in the future.
The visa run is most definitely still on...you just have to go through the proper channels. |
