I'll be heading to Korea in roughly 1.5 weeks for the EPIK orientation, and I'm looking for up-to-date information regarding the Chicago Consulate. I will be traveling there some time this week to get my visa, and I need to know exactly what documents I need to bring. Has anyone been there to get their Visa?
My recruiter told me that the documents I need to submit are:
1. $45.00 money order
2. A passport photo
3. Passport
4. Visa application form(downloadable from website)
5. Contract(from EPIK)
6. Approval Letter(from EPIK)
7. Diploma copy or your transcript
But the consulate's website says I also need:
# Document regarding establishment of school or organization
# Letter of personal reference notarized
# Criminal Record (Attached Apostille)
# Applicant�s Health Statement
# Transcript Certified
Most of this stuff I have, but some of it I don't (Document regarding establishment of school or organization, Letter of personal reference notarized, Approval letter from EPIK).
Can anybody confirm exactly what documents are required? Preferably somebody that has visited the consulate for the visa process in the past month.

If you already had an interview over the phone with EPIK then you don't need to go. At least that's what the lady who works there told me over the phone. I just sent the first 7 items along with a return envelope with the postage. I'm a little worried though because they received it on the 4th of this month and I still haven't received my passport. I'm going to call tomorrow though if I don't receive it.
I would call ahead just to be on the safe side. There's one guy who barely speaks English, so just ask if you can talk to someone else if you can't understand him. There's a girl who speaks English very well. Hopefully she'll answer on your first attempt. Tell them you received your notice of appointment from EPIK.
One more thing. Send a sealed official transcript, not a copy of your diploma. I'm assuming that you've already sent the items in your second list to EPIK? |

| Well I'm going there in person because I leave in 10 days and I don't trust the Koreans enough for me to mail them my stuff, have them receive it, process it, and mail it back all in 10 days. So I'm wondering what I need to bring with me. |

Bring the first 7 items you listed. If you're that worried, call and ask. If you've already sent the other items that you listed to Korea, then you don't need to take that stuff with you. It's already in EPIK's possession.
I should have just went there myself, but I hate going downtown... They better send me my shite! |

| I turned down my EPIK offer for another job, and had to go to the consulate for the most worthless interview! My passport was mailed Friday and arrived with my visa on Saturday. The consulate people are pretty good! |

I just went to the Korean consulate in Chicago on Monday. I gave them the following items:
passport
picture
fee
visa app
notice of appointment
contract
photocopies of passport and notice of appointment
self-addressed express envelope
I received my passport back with E-2 visa on Wednesday afternoon.
Easy as pie |

| They'll make you wait at least a couple days between the time you drop off your paperwork and then pick up your passport/visa. You could mail things out ahead of time and possibly pick them up and get on the plane the same day, but if you're planning to do that, you'd better double and triple check with them to make sure they have everything they need/want for your application. Still, I'd allow a little extra time. |

And you're coming to Korea?
My recruiter did all of that stuff that you "need" to bring with you. And actually going to chicago is a joke, do the interview via msn messenger. The interview is only ten minutes anyway. I am so glad we did that, instead of going up there. I was sketchy about mailing the stuff up there, but it worked and it saved me a lot of time compared to what you are having to do to get over here. |
