I remember last summer, during the rainy season, you saw a lot of women walking around in these rubber boots, which we used to call "billy boots". An odd look but whatever. So was the cowboy boots + mini skirt look. Anyway, I noticed this look has caught on in Canada now, a year later.
(I would hazard a guess this look originated in Japan.) |

We've had these in New York for the last couple of years. I'm not sure about Canada or the rest of the U.S. but they're kind of old news here. Though the shorts with the heels thing that's been big in Korea and China as well has made it over to the U.S. just this summer. So we're kind of late on that. Fashion trends are like tornadoes...you don't know where they will strike next. Or something like that. |

Toronto has always been a few years behind NYC. That's for sure. |

I've been seeing them in St. John's, which is a fashion backwater, for the past couple of years now. |

I don't remember seeing anyone wearing these rain boots in Seoul last year. Mostly kids wear rain boots, and everyone else goes around getting their feet and/or shoes wet in heels, flip-flops, or sneakers. As far as shorts and heels, they've been doing that forever here. |

I used to see it more in Hong Kong. Not so much in the past year or so. So I guess it would make sense that it's now becoming popular in places like Korea and Canada. |

I still where boots (not cowboy) with short dresses. I like the look.
Cowoy boots and hats were really like 4-5 years ago. The rain boots have been around for a while ,too. But if you like it, you should sport it!! |
