Professor Rod Ellis is a Professor in the Department of Applied language studies and Linguistics at University of Auckland, New Zealand. In addition Professor Ellis is a TESOL Professor and Chair of the Graduate School of Education at Anaheim University in Anaheim, California where he teaches various online courses in the Master of Arts in TESOL. Professor Ellis Since 1980 has authored more than 30 articles on second language acquisition.

Thanks. He was very gracious to allow me to squeeze out 10 minutes with him during lunch. He has a very busy schedule. In that time, I tried to ask some of the questions you guys put up.

He sounded very experienced and was really happy to listen to this interview. It was short but there was a lot covered in the podcast. An interesting idea was raised about the use of L1 in the classroom. The accent was a difficult to place (Australian, British, NZ), odd but I guess this is because he has spent much of his time abroad teaching English.

It would be great to listen to him again sometime in the future about Asian countries ability of using English internationally.

I should hope so after four decades in the field!

Another very good interview that encapusulates Ellis' views very well. I spent a week studying under him and it was one of the most worth-while things I've done professionally.

I think Mr. Ellis deals mostly in theory these days, although he does teach/speak at various venues often. He was at Sookmyung today, and will be back in my class tomorrow.
