As a spin-off of Kermo's topic...

Is there an option for Shinhan Bank users to transfer money online?

There's a link for personal online banking: http://www.shinhan.com/en/index.jsp

And there's a call centre # at 1577-8000 but I don't know if they'll have any English speakers.

My bank dude told me if I come in with my work contract, alien card and passport they can set me up to transfer money to overseas from the ATM, which is cool.

Is there an option in English on the ATM for transfers? I have never noticed it when ever I withdraw money.

I asked about it repeatedly, usually once or twice on my monthly visits. I usually get "waegukin opso" with the whole wrist crossed thing.

I'm going to a new branch now, starting this month... maybe they'll know. I hate doing it manually because it takes two weeks and half the time the money gets sent back. I also hate filling out the same twenty minute long forms every time I want to send money, and I hate "taking a number".

At Shinhan? I used to bank at the store in Daechi-dong, and they spoke English well, and the money would be in my account in the US in a day. Also, if you fill out one form, they keep it and replicate it each time you come in, with an obvious change of date and amount of money, if you need it.

I'm talking about a branch in Pyeongchon (Shinhan). I made a few posts about it awhile back--once they misplaced W1,000,000 of mine which was meant to be transferred and when I confronted the teller about it she just said "sorry--we don't have it, we lost it--I don't know" and motioned to the next customer. They seemed so incompetant.

But yes, I'm going to a new branch now. I did a transfer and filled out the forms, so depending on how long it takes and if they don't screw it up / not take it easier for me next time, then I'll stay at Shinhan.
