He is one step of funny below me, that's for certain. For god's sake, he does the 'midget' thing. Jimmy Kimmel is funnier than Mencia. |

most comedians hate mencia because he has been stealing material for years. there is some serious hate there. I used to think he was funny until I started to notice he did steal material.
hey if it gets you famous.... |

Interesting clip on Carlos Mencia, and Joe Rogan's campaign to smash him. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7841918711943453918
For those of you who think Joe Rogan is only about Fear Factor and UFC, check out some of his stand up. He's a very, very talented stand up artist. |

Joe Rogan was great on NewsRadio as the paranoid electrical guy. Plus I loved it when he publicly and repeatedly challenged stephen seagall to a fightt. If only he could erase those MAN SHOW years.....
As for Mencia, someone must have had the great idea to take old bits from Dave Chapelle's show, and instead of having a Black guy do them, have a Hispanic guy. Rebranding, it's not just for potato chips anymore! |

Anybody ever seen Neil Hamburger?

I think Carlos Mencia is doing something like that. Except a chubby, sweaty, Mexican version. |

He is better than Sarah Silverman.
She's the worst comic I've ever seen. Ever. |

If you dont like SS, then may I suggest "Way of the Gun." She is billed very appropriately as RAVING BITCH. talk about truth in advertising...
anyway, she is in it only for a minute, but as she starts screaming at the two leads, benecio del toro and ryan phillipe, Del Toro just goes off and punches her out cold.
at least I think he was the one. But whoever did it, really was doing the male world a favor that day.... |

What are you talking about? The fact that Hamburger is an aping of Kaufman's Tony Clifton? Have you ever been to a Hamburger show or watched a full set he's done?
Hamburger's doing a sort of punk rock comedy. What Clifton did and what Hamburger do are very different. The look is the same, but all those sleazy Vegas, or more likely Reno, lounge guys dressed like that. They're mocking the same source material. Hamburger isn't stealing anything.
Now, if you mean by the comparison that Mencia and Hamburger are both 'shock' comics, then you're oversimplifying. Hamburger does mostly one liners, and his act is more about the character of Neil Hamburger. He gets most of his laughs from the coughing routine and the holding/spilling his multiple drinks. Also, Hamburger's use of 'taboo' humor tends to revolve around pop culture rather than race.
Mencia basically does race humor, and unoriginal race humor at that. Sometimes it's funny, but if you see the people who did it originally it's often much, much better. Go back and watch the old Richard Pryor stuff. Mencia plays madlibs with the jokes, inserting Mexican or beaner where he sees fit. Also, underlying Mencia's race humor is a rather obnoxious element of preachiness. It's like he doesn't feel comfortable saying the 'wrong' things he says, then defends his right as free speech, then feels bad again and decides to play it off as if he's providing a public service teaching us all to laugh at ourselves. He's a wanker, plain and simple, and I'm shocked that Paul Rodriguez and George Lopez haven't taken a blade to him. Mexican's do that, you know. |

Really? I love her, and not just because she is a magnificent Jewess. Her humor is self referential to a point of being an inside joke in some cases, so I can understand how some might not like it. Did you see her show 'Jesus is Magic'? The bit where she sheds a single tear, flinging her head and the stagehand then masturbates with her tear, that's genius. I'm not one for musical comedy, and I could take or leave that, but her jokes are well constructed and funny.
Who do you like? Robin Williams? |
