I have a problem. I went into Seoul today to visit some friends, and the entire subway system went offline around 11:30pm halting my trip home to Suwon. So I'm stick in a place called Yeongdeongpo (at a PC bang), waiting for the subways to start running again.

Around what time does the subway start up again? What about the Mugunghwa line? I tried taking the Mugunghwa at around midnight but the ticket office was closed and the man working at the metro office told me to scram. It seems to be running 24/7, though.

Any advice appreciated, it's going to be a late night.

I'm pretty sure the subway begins operation at 5:30am. Go find yourself a room at a love motel for the night.

I didn't bring much cash and I don't have any on my bank card. It's all sitting in my house. I guess I'm waiting until 5:30am Razz

That happened to me about three weeks ago.

I sped in a taxi to that main Seoul Station on the purple line. I missed all the buses and the subway. That's one area that I did not feel comfortable around. A taxi guy quoted the trip back to Bundang for 30,000, but I just went to a PC band for a few hours.

When I walking to the subway station a little after 5:00, there was this really pushy adjumma/pimp who was determined to hook me up with one of her ladies. I just ignored her, but she kept following for a while.

Ha, you might see some prostitutes getting on the train first thing in the morning; I did. But then the fashion sense here is so bad that they could have been just normal people.

Depending on your destination, the first train Saturday at Yeongdeungpo Subway Station is:

Cheongnyangni 5:12
Euijeongbu 5:04
Dongducheon 5:04
Byeongjeom 5:35
Incheon 5:14

My cellphone has a nifty subway map/information function.
