Well, lately I've found that the more I read the moronic garbage (not all encompassing, there are some good threads)the more I negatively view and react to fellow expats on a daily basis.
I well know that if I could understand the Koreans I might be equally affected, but ignorance is bliss in my case. I find that the more I interact on Dave's and read the posts that come up the less I want to have to do with anyone of my own ethnicity. Maybe it's time to call it quits with this place for my own sanity and social well being? |

Not all Westerners are of the same "ethnicity."
I think you need to take Spliff's advice. |

Nah, no need to hate other westerners. This site has around 200 regular posters: just a rough guess. How many foreigners teach English in Korea? Ya gotta figure over 95% of them never even look at this site. |

I don't hate other Westerners, but the ones who post a long list of things they hate here after being here a month, and how they have no plans to tolerate things any more really make it hard to like them. But listening their posts and antagonizing them? Eh, it's a little fun. |

200 regular posters? It's probably fewer than that. I've met many teachers who knew OF this site and used it once or twice during their time in Korea. Like any other internet site, there are more lurkers than posters. Many lurkers just look for: information about jobs, restaurants, where to buy things, and where to meet people- that kind of stuff. |

Nope, don't hate anyone for being a foreigner. There is a lot of nonsense posted on Dave's. If it's not someone with one-liner or putdown, it's someone just complaining about anything from the weather to noisy neighbors. That said, there is plenty of good info on the site. I think most of the posters have good insight on living and working here. Don't let a few awful ones ruin it for you. |

like, yeah, agreed -
hey OP - if you are a Westerner and you are starting to hate Westerners - hmmm - maybe some introspection is what's needed?
or follow Spliff's suggestion? |

Most of the posters on Dave's are all right. They are just people. Focus on the good ones that you like. |

Dave's doesn't make me hate Westerners, but living in Korea has made me tired of them. Not that Korean culture is better nor are the people, but experiencing another culture has made me reflect on my own a lot and shed some light on it's faults.
I have a lot of Westerners in my life, and I don't need any more. Basically, Dave's helped me realize that but I would've came to that conclusion either way. I'm just sick of it. |

I do not hate anyone and I teach my students not to use the word 'hate.' Young and old Korean students use the word often and many times it sounds dumb. If anyone hates someone on here for posts made then they are _ _ _ _.

I hate all tonnes of stuff, I can assure you that it's very healthy. |

i don't think it's made me hate other westerners, it's just surprised me at how immature some people are... let's just hope it's the whole internet anonymity thing happening |

Jeez, talk about needing to put things into perspective. Maybe you'd get nicer replies if you weren't such a nobwad yourself? In any case, perhaps your beef lies with people who do TEFL rather than Westerners? |
