I know I'm a diehard romantic but I'd really like Bigfoot, of all mythic creatures - to be real - Laughing

Two Georgians Say They Have Bigfoots Body
By JESSE McKINLEY

SAN FRANCISCO In the hairy and hoax-filled history of Bigfoot, those who believe in the mythical beast have offered up all manner of evidence, from grainy photos to hoarse recordings to tracks of those aforementioned feet.

But on Friday at a hotel in Palo Alto, Calif., a pair of Bigfoot hunters say they will present what they contend is the most definitive proof yet of an animal that science says does not exist: DNA evidence and photographs of a dead specimen they say they found in a remote swath of woods in northern Georgia.

It was very frightening at first, said Rick Dyer, 31, a former corrections officer who coincidentally runs a business that offers Bigfoot tours. And it got even more frightening when you saw the others.

Indeed, Mr. Dyer said he and his partner, Matthew Whitton, saw three more of the beasts nearby as they dragged the body of said creature out of the woods. Moreover, Mr. Dyer says he has video clips and photographs to prove it.

One photograph provided to the news media showed what resembled a gorilla or maybe an old sheepskin rug lying twisted in a freezer, with a dollop of intestines protruding from its belly.

Theres a lot of comment being made that it looks fake, or it looks like a suit, Mr. Dyer said. But these people wasnt there when I was sweating, pulling this thing through the woods.

Tom Biscardi, a longtime Bigfoot booster from the Bay Area, who traveled to Georgia to see the animal, said he was 150 percent sure that the carcass was a Bigfoot, an American Indian legend whose modern fame dates to an elaborate footprint hoax perpetrated at a Northern California logging camp in 1958.

This is Eureka! man, said Mr. Biscardi, whose operations include a Bigfoot Web site, a Bigfoot merchandise line and a Bigfoot Internet radio show. I touched it.

Both Mr. Biscardi and Mr. Dyer said they expected skeptics to discount the find, which is being kept in a freezer in an undisclosed location outside Atlanta. But they promised even more proof, including video, a DNA test and, of course, a mission to capture one of the big guys.

Im not asking anyone to believe us, Mr. Dyer said. Im just asking them to sit and watch, because youre going to eat your words.

Accepting for the sake of discussion the cryptozoological parameters, I wonder how these guys account for their specimen being so far from home base. My understanding is that the Bigfoot population is concentrated mostly in Pacific Northwest.

This is probably the corpse of the government's super secret, ape-alien hybred, raised in area 51, that was able to wire both of the twin towers secretly in a two hour period with thermite explosives. He usually hid out in the mountains on his secret training missions and was "eliminated" shortly after 9/11. Someone should alert Dr. Quack. He needs to get all over this right away.

So, after years of waving around grainy photos and fake footprints to promote their tours, they actually bag a sasquatch and hide it in a freezer?

Still, I wonder if the tests can determine if it also has psychic abilities.

I guess you aren't aware that they can fly spaceships.

Big week for cryptozoology...

Vampire dog spotted in Texas

Quote:
The Chupacabra, which literally translates as Goat Sucker, has taken on legendary status akin to Bigfoot in Latino circles which has seen it appear in books and films including Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico.

It has previously been sighted as far south as Chile and Argentina and as far north as the US state of Maine, and similar animals have been described in Russia and the Philippines.

Its latest appearance was caught on a dashboard-mounted camera by deputy sheriff Brandon Riedel and his officer Ellie Carter in the town of Cuero, Texas.

"We were checking fences when this thing jumped out at us," Mr Carter said.

"I shouted: 'It's a chupacabra!' I recognised it instantly from TV. It had big teeth, a big head, short legs in the front and long legs in back."

In August last year, a chupacabra was blamed for the deaths of around 30 chickens on a nearby farm.

The animals were found drained of blood with two puncture marks in their otherwise uninjured bodies.

The farm's owner, Phylis Canion, claimed to have discovered the carcasses of three strange animals, one of which she preserved in her freezer before handing it over for DNA analysis.

The publicity from that attack saw T-shirts featuring the chupacabra shipped around the world, and there was talk of changing Cuero's mascot.

However, Texan scientists who investigated the case said the animal was likely to be a coyote, potentially crossed with a grey fox.

Why the short front legs and long back legs, huh, Mr. Science?

I don't see the big deal here. It's been known for a long time Bigfoot exists. I mean, there is already a ton of video evidence... just watch this:

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=wiSqTvA7emQ

See? Tons of evidence!!

Ok ok... let's look at this...

Firstly, they found it "just lying there" on the ground dead... not really convincing. The DNA test said it was from an opossum... but apparently that's "because it could have eaten an opossum"... although they had previously said it must be a vegetarian due to the plant-eating lack of fangs... They won't disclose the location. They seem to either avoid questions or just say very little about the details. They pulled down a youtube video where they had said it was a hoax... Also, they put up a video with a "doctor" on it who turned out to be one of the guy's brothers. They have released a grand total of three pictures! Woo hoo!

Too bad that they dragged that somewhat more "credible" Bigfoot hunter guy Tom Biscardi into this... he seems to be a nice guy... but he already was fooled by backing a story that was proven to be a hoax. His credibility was damaged, but could be damaged even more with this story... although... I wonder how much credibility Bigfoot hunters have in the first place. Hehe.

If they're lying, and it turns out to be something where they are just trying to make money off this publicity, it might make for a good Coen brothers movie! Awesomeness! Very Happy

Can't wait for the movie!

I'm really hoping it was one of their friends who dressed up to scare them and they 'found' him real good. Now they've got him trussed up in a freezer. That would definitely merit a Darwin award.

or

It is a hoax, but not these guys' hoax. These hicks stumbled across the body, not knowing it was fake, and really believe it is the sass.

Couldn't they be sued or prosecuted in some way? I find it hard to believe that they can make a bogus claim, call a press conference, and then just get away with a hoax.

I would think that they would get slammed for distributing false information in order to profit.

I liked reading this link debunking it.

http://www.oregonbigfoot.com/georgia_bigfoot_dead_body_in_freezer_dyer_whitton_biscardi.php

I could write a Coen brothers style script based around this wacky story... the soon-to-be tragic story of these two hillbillies and the sad Bigfoot "hunter." Who wants to bet this will be made into a movie?

I think the most interesting thing in this whole fiasco is the human psychology aspect of it all. What is their motive? Money? If so, won't they, like an above poster stated, eventually get in some kind of legal trouble? Don't they realize how damaging this will be to their credibility and reputations?

I think the only safe exit for these guys is to have the body mysteriously "disappear." That's definitely my prediction.

But still. Now they're in deeper than they possibly could have thought... and there's no backing out... yet...

If it were a real body of anything remotely resembling a human, then the local police and forensics folks would have been on it from day one.

It's a fake. We all know it. It is kind of fun, though.

I am not a lawyer, but my guess would be that there has to be some sort of money changing hand and/or contract being signed for it to lead to a lawsuit or criminal charges. I doubt that lying, in and of itself, is actionable.

And anyway. If there was a lawsuit, wouldn't the reporters have to claim that they went to the press conference fully expecting to see a Bigfoot, but were hoodwinked? In other words, they'd have to admit that they were gullible fools.

I'd be willing to ponder a guess that these fellows are truly so unaware of just how big their story would be in the media; that is, they never expected it to be taken seriously.

People like that are incredibly unaware of global issues and how the media works - they have their own fantasies and realities which works for them. I think the media that covered the story did so because it was fun and enlightening in the sense there are still some people (Americans no less) who are willing to go out on a limb for such a reason as to say they found a Bigfoot and stuffed it in a freezer.

Times (and people) are getting more and more desperate and professional cons will continue to abound in places other than govt (where they always live and thrive).
