I somehow think it all comes down to economics. A lot of Canadians are expected to make their own way in life (at least partially) after the age of 18 or 19, while many other countries (like Korea) support their children right up until marriage with no qualms. How can one compete with support from parents and/or government?
Also, the choice of sports affects Canada too. It changes almost every olympics. Did you notice how many medals there are for swimming? And Judo. If suddenly there were 10 medals for rowing and Canada got one really excellent rowing team, suddenly we'd be cracking top 10.
Disqualify those underage Chinese and give it to Canada, I say. We need it!!! |

Canada is usually one of the better dressed teams, but this year they made the list of ten worst dressed. Who the *beep* designed that shit?
Worst, though, was the South African team and their crocs. |

The greatness of a country is not measured by how many gold medals its athletes win at the Olympics. The whole meaning of the Olympics was to take a break from killing each other in war, and have some fun in competitive sports.
Canada is a great country regardless of how many medals her athletes win. I am not a Canadian, but I still love Canada. |

| At least Canadian swimmer Keith Beavers can tell his grandkids he was in the same pool when Michael Phelps won a gold medal. His maple leaf/Olympic rings tatoo on his chest seems kinds of pointless however. |

Still. Clearly throwing tea into the harbour must be good for athletics. |

Nice spread too, one of each type. Too bad though since I can no longer make fun of them. |
