|
|
So I am trying to help one of my best friends back home get a job out here.
But she can only do a 6-8 month contract and only wants to live in Bundang.
I've found a few 6 month contracts, and tons of jobs in Bundang. But for some reason no 6 month contracts IN Bundang.
Does anyone please have any advice/leads/tips?
(She signed up with a recruiter but he's not really been any help yet and keeps trying to convince her to do one year.) |

The chances of an overseas hire getting a 6 month contract are about the same as a snowball in hades.
Take a 1 year job, work the 6 months, give notice and leave.
If it is a crappy hagwon that will stiff her for her salary after her notice, just work her time and walk out at her convenience.]
As long as she has done her 6 months she doesn't (or shouldn't if she signed a decent contract) owe them anything.

Well it must be a cold day in hell then, lucky for Laura_F's friend, coz there is a job link on the Korean job board now offering 6 month contracts ( one way ticket paid upfront ) only minutes form Seohyeon Station and Samsung Plaza, which is ground zero for Bundang. And they are employing direct, no incompetent, dodgy recruiters - not that they all are, just all the ones I ever had to deal with

Not a typical Hogwon job, looks interesting, I have been aware of them for the last few years, haven't heard any bad news about the place, the coordinator used to contribute here sometimes, but don't know if this is still her.
Only 2 negatives - semi-shared accommodation and 6 50min lessons in the day, but for 6 months - who cares?
Check it out. |

I believe that ttompatz is correct yet again. According to this post:

Seongnam English town is hell. |

Many hagwons would LOVE to have teachers work on 8 month contracts. One of the main benefits of working in Korea for one year is the severance (one month salary) paid at the end of 12 months of full time employment. |

ttompatz No. 1 fan:
Post 131571 is non existent, funny thing to base your belief on, you must be religious.
I think more than 1 non existent post is required to evaluate SNET. |

Gotta love when the mods delete posts. Someone was talking about how the coordinator and most of the staff have left their contracts early due to some recent changes in policy. That is why they are looking for people for short term contracts. |

No, they have been offering 6 month contracts for at least a couple of years.
But yeah when posts get censored...brings up the whole problem of hearsay on the board.
Could be true about the policy change, but needs more input from the crowd in Bundang. |

Thank you very much for the info. I think it's worth checking out, but I'll definitely suggest she talk to a current teacher before she signs.
I wonder what this 'semi-shared accommodation' means? She has to share an apartment with other teachers, but only semi?? |
