How many people here think that North Korea is not forked up? A young lady from Los Angeles who was born in Korea just told me that she believes that the tales of woe about North Korea are not real because she, a twenty year old babe, has never heard of them!!

That's funny, Roch. Is she in college here?

BTW-I once met a woman who thought the PLO was "People Loving Orphans." It was funny because, out of the blue, in the middle of a restaurant, she told a couple of us that she supported the "PLO." Laughing

What did she say when you broke the news to her that it actually stood for Palestinians Loving Oprah?

If she's never heard that North Korea is a less than great place to be, it's obvious she's never done any research or kept up with current events there at all.
Now what kind of person equates not hearing of something in a field which they have no knowledge whatsoever to it not existing?

I can answer that question myself, but let me say this: I hope she's good looking because she's not going to get far with her brains.

Shocking ignorance, but hardly surprising!

On the Korean end, we know most Koreans don't like to talk about the negative side of life in Nork country.
Most like to pretend it's not really happening and think happy thoughts of the "reconciliation" fantasy. They prefer the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, so a lot of the Korean kids are growing up not knowing the full truth of one of the world's worst prison states.
On the Los Angeles end of it, most Angelenos live in their own kind of oblivion. L.A. is not where you go to look for the best & the brightest!

Roch, my question is:
what was your response to her clueless statement?

Did you burst into laughter?
Did you get indignant and ask 'are you forking stoopid'?
Did you just shake your head and change the subject?

I wanna hear what happened next!

Well, I can sort of understand it. Continental Airlines think I live there, too! My mail comes addressed: People's Democratic Republic of Korea (North).

Thank heavens that someone in the post office has a brain!!!

She's not a gyopo, but rather an "overseas Korean".

Stop flattering her. Rolling Eyes
