Also, the UK isn't a country. It's a Kingdom. |
Kingdoms have little to do with what is a country or not. They're pretty meaningless these days.
Whilst it's not always correct, wikipedia agrees with me.

The CIA world fact-book also agrees with the UK being a country. That's good enough for me. Where did you get the impression that it wasn't a country? Would you count Sealand as a constituent of the UK, an individual country or nothing?
Edit:
I think you'll find that members The United Nations are nations and not countries. LOL |
I was taking a piss you dummy. |

I suppose I could weigh in on this since I am a former geography teacher. You have to consider that the U.S. media is heavily corporate and educating the masses is not profitable, really. The media has cut back in the past few decades. There used to be a lot of foreign bureaus in the 1980s that were cut. That's part of the problem and PBS is very weak in the U.S. Also, only recently has there been more of an emphasis on doing well in social studies say in Texas. In Europe, people emphasize learning about foreign countries and the media talks about foreign countries more. It doesn't mean that someone is an inferior person if they don't know where Australia is. I would say I didn't really connect with people who didn't know this stuff, but now I don't really care if you know where Sweden is or not if I get along with you as a person.
However, I do think the US is doing a horrible job when it comes to educating people about the world let alone the basics. It is very hard to be an American or British teacher, at any rate. Things aren't really better in Britain. |

Plus Americans only worry about their two neighbors. Most kids back home know the important stuff-
Canada gives us three important resources:
1) Hockey players
2) Jim Carrey and other comedians
3) maple syrup
Mexico gives us:
1) Dos Equis beer
2) nachos
3) job security for INS agents
Some may also add "gardeners," but I think that's just racist! |

It's pretty easy to find idiots in certain parts of the country or in certain parts of town. If you want to make a video, it's not that hard. I'm sure you could do the same in any other country you like. |
One could make some really interesting videos by interviewing enough Koreans. Wow |
