Are there a lot of foreigners living in Ilsan? If you live there what do you do for fun and how is Lake Park? |

Ilsan is a great city. It's new, clean, and there are a number of things to do.
I would say that there are a lot of foreigners living here. I never leave the apartment without seeing some one I know. There are tons of schools here, so tons of foreigners. So there's plenty of opportunities to make fellow foreign friends. If you don't want to make foreign friends, it's also perfectly acceptable to do the whole thing where you walk by and pretend you don't see each other and therefore don't acknowledge your common skin tone and/or eye shape.
Lake Park is freakin' awesome. It's miles and miles of cool stuff all rolled in to one sweet park. It's a nice way to get away from the city, to go have some quiet place to relax and get in touch with nature. It's also really fun to go drink there at night with friends. Additionally there are some great sculptures there and also quite a nice greenhouse where you can buy house plants and even herbs.
Besides Lake Park you have Meat Street, a pedestrian only street choc full of restaurants, bars, and meats of all kinds. Further down you have La Festa, good for shopping and some decent foreign restaurants. Even further down you have the new(ish) area called Western Dom. Shopping, movies, and restaurants galore; it's like a half-indoor half-outdoor mall.
Ilsan is close enough to Seoul, but not too close. It's cleaner and less crowded. The streets are wider and the skies are brighter. I recommend it highly. |

Ilsan is WONDERFUL!
If you want to see foreigners, grab a coffee at McDonalds, on the edge of La Festa, and watch people go by. Or grab a coffee at Tom n Tom's at the edge of Western Dom and watch people go by. You'll see some foreigners.
From there, the magic is up to you. |

I have been to Ilsan. It is a great place to live but the teachers that I know there seem to have issues with their schools.
You have to visit to understand how great of a city Ilsan is compared to the rest of Korea. |

I live in ilsan, and really like it. That said, I've said goodbye to a lot of good people doing midnight runs the last couple of months. Ilsan is nice , some of the schools are no good... |
