Does anyone know how to go about doing some private consulting/tutoring of students in Korea who are applying for admission to law school or b-school in the U.S.? (E.g., resume and essay help, mock interviews, admissions consulting, etc.). What are the visa and/or licensing requirements, if any? How does one find clients, and what are typical rates charged in the Seoul metro area?

Informative/helpful replies are much appreciated.

Your question is more like asking people for their trade secrets. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that anyone that knows those answers probably isn't going to share them with you.

I could be wrong, but normally people with that information don't go around giving it to others that will cut into their own niche market.

Well assuming you are on an F-series visa and you get permission from whereever you are working it would be legal to do that. If not, I wouldn't do it.

A lot of Koreans go through 'YuHakWon' that specialize in law/graduate schools. These places arrange applications, translate and proof letters and essays, and arrange travel (and even sometimes accomodations). The better ones will arrange for interview practice, too.

I recall seeing a story on the news about some guy who provided 'consulting' about law and grad schools. He basically charged millions of won, and then told people where to apply. What a joke. He was framed on the show as a con artist, but, hey, people are PAYING for this! Idiots. Man, if you can't even figure out where to apply, what the hell are you doing?
