Hi,

I have a problem / query. Every day I'm supposed to send in an attendance sheet to my boss. It's a windows excell spreadsheet. The thing is, unless I want to stay after school and use a random available computer, I want to be sending it from home. How to do this when my home computer is a mac, OS X ? I used to have open office on my old PC, but haven't had any luck downloading it for mac. Can I download windows for mac for free from somewhere? Or is there some nifty option where I can open a windows file in something maccy that I already have, and when I save it, save it as something windowsy? Errrrr help.

Illegally via torrent (you need utorrent first to download them)

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3982958/Office_2008_for_Mac_Standard_Edition_[_Retail_-_English_]

or

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4011190/Microsoft_Office_2008_for_Mac_-_Standard_Edition___14_serials

Both come with serial numbers (have not tried either)

or if you want to do it legally here is open office for mac

Thanks Blackjack, I'm going to try that. I used to have utorrent on my old pc but that doesn't seem to work for macs ( wtf is with that, by the way!? I had this problem 10 years ago and thought people would have caught on to how many mac users there are by now...). Xtorrent does it but you need to pay. Does anyone know what torrent players ( is that even what they are? torrent downloaders? I don't really know what they do, to be honest) work on macs?

I would have to check, but I am sure that openoffice for the mac is called NeoOffice. Or at least I am sure that is what I was using last year. I went out and bought the new iWorks. It is able to open Excel docs, unless the doc is weighed down with all the specials. VBA and scripts. Then I use NeoOffice.
I forget right now because I don't have my mac on me. I donated it to my sister.
If all you want is to view the doc, check to see if MS's free doc viewer works on the mac. When I get some more time, I'll look into what I had.

Transmission really screwed with my torrent downloads. It misreported data in large dowloads by hundreds of megabytes. The last straw was a under-report in the 4 Gig range. I was wondering why it was taking so long, then i learned I was not alone.

If you visit the transmission forums, you'll see lots of problems.

I use Tomato. It's interface is crap, but it's super lean and does the job. Azeurus is too much of a CPU hog.

I assume you don't have MS office on your Mac? You don't need Windows, just MS excel (mac format obviously) and you're good to go. Or, as mentioned by others, NeoOffice.
